Road Scholar has thousands of educational adventures to choose from. A good way to narrow down our list is to browse our collection of "Most Popular" programs.
See all of our Most Popular programs.
While all of our learning adventures offer extraordinary value, our "Best Value" programs were rated by our participants themselves who thought their dollar went particularly far.
Love to learn in a small-group setting? This collection of programs has at most 10-24 participants.
See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. Minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding, and rewarding, programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

My wife and I are planning to be on the CR trip Feb 28, then the Nicaragua trip the following week. Anyone else doing these two programs back-to-back?

By the way. On day 7 of our Taste of Costa Rica trip I have never used bug spray, never been stung or bit. Its virtually insect-free as far as pests. Your mileage may vary. Bring binoculars.

Jim and I are still looking for someone going on February 11 - 19. Also, this is our first RS trip and I have a question about cell phones. Because we have aged parents we want people to be able to reach us incase of emergency Can they reach us on our cell phones or will they need to be on airplane mode when we do not have WIFI? Can one text from abroad without substantial costs? Or is the best thing to do is to give them the Holbrook number? We're talking emergencies; they wouldn't call otherwise and nor would we. Thanks.

We are currently on day 7 of Taste of Costa Rica. Wi-fi is available at every hotel and most little restaurants and snack bars we have visited. You can leave your phone on, but it might cost you 50 cents if a friend accidentally phones you from the States. You can make a phone call out using your cell phone for $2.50/ minute (AT&T) and send a non photo text for 50 cents. The downside to leaving your phone on is the unwanted incoming phone calls from folks back home who don't know that you are in Costa Rica. But overall its a risk of a few bucks.

Is anyone else planning to stay overnight near Logan Airport on Saturday, Feb 27th in order to leave early on the 28th?

Gail Gurin Feb 05, 2016 at 04:12 PM

I returned to VA Feb. 1st following 9 wonderful days in CR. No problem with insects. Good idea to take long pants & jacket/sweater for cool evenings. Pura vida!

Hi Harold, my husband, David, and I are on the same trip and will be on a flight from Atlanta arriving San Jose at 1pm. Looking forward to meeting you and Jan!

My wife, Jan, and I are going on this trip on Feb. 13, flying from Cleveland and arriving San Jose at 2:05 p. m. on United 1098 from Houston. Anyone else on that trip and/or flight?
