I'm going on the July 21 - Aug 1 trip. This is my first trip with RS. I'll be flying in from Denver on July 21. I hope to make a lot of new friends!
NOELLE SIMMONS Jul 18, 2015 at 07:13 PM

My husband, Jim, and I are also on the July 21 trip and look forward to meeting you. We will be arriving on the 20th from Greenville, SC.
Betty Berry Jul 18, 2015 at 07:22 PM

I did this trip 2 years ago. It was my 36 trip and I truly enjoyed it. A lot of time is spent on the bus but the locations are breathtaking.

Anyone going on the August 18-29 trip? Any other solo travellers?

Cindy B. Jul 08, 2015 at 06:15 PM

No, but I'll let you know how my trip goes when I'm back.

Cindy B. Jun 05, 2015 at 07:03 PM

That's the July 14-25 trip Grand Tetons to Banff.

Cindy B. Jun 05, 2015 at 06:20 PM

Just posted this on the general discussion board. Anyone going on the July 14-25 trip who is watching these posts? I'm probably flying in a day early but will stay at a different hotel since our Lexington seems to be $404 a night without the group rate!

I am planning to arrive one day early for the July 14-25 trip also but was able to get a room qt the Lexington for about $300.00. Also, will be having a 4 hour layover at Ohare!

Would like to hear about luggage used from those who have participated in past. I feel I need to take a checked bag which can hold my folded hiking poles, extra shoes, etc. but I always take a carry-on so I have my medications, change of clothes, etc. in the event my main bag is delayed or lost. Did those of you who have taken this trip have 2 such bags? or did you stick to the "one small bag" as recommended in the guide?
Helen Sternheim Jun 01, 2015 at 05:22 PM

I usually take a day pack with meds a change of underwear and a top. I also take my tablet loaded with books to read. My chargers for phone and tablet are also in the day pack. I do not carry a purse, I have a small waist pack instead.
Helen Sternheim Jun 01, 2015 at 05:24 PM

I check a small suitcase similar to ones other take onto the plane. My husband takes a larger suitcase with telescoping hiking poles which he checks. he also carries a pack onto the plane.

Looking to find others who are participating in the Grand Teton to Banff program July 21 to Aug. 1. My husband and I will be coming from SC and will be flying in on Aug. 20. Also, any suggestions from past participants would be most welcome.
Carole Colley Jun 02, 2015 at 08:46 AM

I am a single coming from Florida by way of Michigan and Minneapolis. I will also be arriving July 20 in the evening and staying at the host hotel.
Carole Colley Jun 02, 2015 at 08:48 AM

The website ignored my last line...I'm looking forward to meeting you and visiting this part of the US.
NOELLE SIMMONS Jun 02, 2015 at 09:02 AM

Looking forward to meeting you as well. I'm not sure what time we will be arriving on the 20th as the airline keeps changing our flights, Their most recent change gives us a 5 hour layover at O'Hare - UGH! We're going to try to stand-by for an earlier connection.
Carole Colley Jun 02, 2015 at 10:19 AM

I have a 9-hour layover in Mnpls - Delta cancelled the original afternoon flight from Michigan - 5 extra hours in Mnpls taken away from visiting with my family. The arrival time in Jackson Hole has remained pretty constant - just a few minutes either way - right around 7 pm. Are you staying at the host hotel, too?
NOELLE SIMMONS Jun 02, 2015 at 03:50 PM

Guess I shouldn't complain about a 5 hour layover. We're on United but I guess all the airlines jerk you around. If there are no further changes, we are due in around 6:30 pm, so unless we are sucessful at standing by for the earlier flight out of O'Hare, we'll probably be on the same shuttle from the airport to the host hotel.

please mail the itinerary to me because my printer is not predictable. please send everything in printed letter to me.
I usually can receive email.
please also send printed info to my roommate Cindy Aucker because she is offline and cannot receive email at this time.
looking forward to this trip.
have a question about needing to pack into one suitcase for the tour. what can i do with the wheeled carry-on i will use for the flight? that is in addition to my checked luggage when I fly?
also have question about just what is the expected low temperature of either glacier and the glacier ride day and the expected low temperature of banff and lake louise IN MID AUGUST WHEN WE ARE THERE?
I would also like to hear from others that are going on the aug.11-22 trip.
I am not on facebook at this time.

Champa Bilwakesh Feb 01, 2015 at 01:14 PM

We are going to be on the trip beginning Aug 25 th and flying out of Boston. I would like to hear from others about the airline they used to fly to Jackson Hole and if you went early to spend a couple days before the trip.
Fred Voss Feb 01, 2015 at 02:49 PM

Champa, my wife and I did same in Aug 2014, flying from Newark. Found it more relaxing to fly in the day before, then enjoy the town and then meetup with the tour at 6pm. Great FREE bus service takes you all around town; but 90% of what you want is within walking distance,. We spent a half day taking the chair lift up Snow King and walking the train at the top. We also stayed for the extra day at the same hotel as the tour; no need to pack and unpack an extra time. Hope you have Tim and Dave as your leader and bus driver. They were both exceptional!
Fred Voss Feb 01, 2015 at 02:50 PM

"walking the trail", not the train!
Champa Bilwakesh Feb 02, 2015 at 08:42 AM

Thank you for your response, Fred. That sounds exactly like what we would like to do.
Champa Bilwakesh Feb 02, 2015 at 08:45 AM

Anyone extended their stay at the other end, at Calgary? Thanks.
Cindy B. Jul 27, 2015 at 12:39 PM

I wanted to go to see some horse shows at Spruce Meadows or would have settled for a day at the Calgary Stampede, but none of them were operating while I was there.
Cindy B. Jul 27, 2015 at 12:41 PM

I tried to go to the Calgary Zoo which was on our side of town (Sheraton was way out of town) but a taxi would have been $15 each way and $21 admission for a few hours so I decided not to. Instead, spent hours at the Calgary Airport since all flights to Vancouver were packed for the next 5 hours.
