Those that are on this trip this week...How is the weather and please give us information that we might need to know for those leaving on Saturday. I hope everyone is having a great time. I am looking forward to next week

Note about wearing shorts...some churches frown on your entering in shorts and tank tops, although some visitors ignore this.

Candace McClenahan Oct 09, 2014 at 02:13 PM

Greetings from Dalmatia to all on the Oct 11 trip! Have been in Croatia for a week and it has been unseasonably warm so I wish I had my bathing suit and shorts. Nights are nice and just cool but not cold. Of course weather can change so be advised. For those of you going to Plitvice Lakes and Zagreb, you will love it!
See you on the 12th!

thanks - helpful to know what to bring! Monica Cherrix

Monica. You are the first person I have seen that is going on the 16th trip. My wife and I will look forward to meeting you next week.
Monica Cherrix Oct 11, 2014 at 01:21 PM

Look forward to meeting you both next Friday. Monica Cherrix

I am taking the October 16 trip and wondered if there might be more info available from others which I would find helpful. Thanks. Monica Cherrix

Another couple of questions directed to anyone who has been on this trip ... How is the food on the boat? What cabin would you recommend?
Roberta Barnes Oct 07, 2014 at 12:10 PM

Food outstanding on the Futura! Petar is great cook! Cabins 9-13 are lovely inside entrance which is better than outside entrance cabins! This yacht is by far nicest that we've seen in the ports! Sorry to have to go to hotel for last two nights!

To all of you who have taken this trip,
My wife and I are signed up for the trip beginning September 17, 2015. We have not made our air fare reservations yet. Do any of you recommend any particular airline? (We will be flying out of Chicago) Are there any airlines you think we should stay totally away from?
On another note, are there any cities you would recommend to travel to or from at the beginning or end of the trip ... such as Venice?
Does anyone recommend the trip extension offered by Road Scholar?
Donald Johnson Oct 06, 2014 at 04:59 PM

We are leaving from Chicago for the Oct. 16th trip and took the airfare offered from Roadscholar because if there are any delays in connections, they will take care of it. We are traveling Swiss Air to Zurich then on to Dubrovinik and home on United to Munich, from Split to Zagreb to Munich. The short trips are on Croatia Airlines.

I am writing you from Plitvice Lakes which I would high
Candace McClenahan Oct 07, 2014 at 11:15 AM

Would highly recommend Plitvice Lakes, whether on the post trip or on your own . I am on the Oct 11, 2014 trip but wanted to come early for fall color, so have come on my own to Zagreb (great!), PLakes, Zadar, Sibrnik, then meet group in Dubrovnik. I only regret not first going to Slovenia, so check it out. Have talked to several who rented car and traveled to Slovenia with no problems. Driving to PLakes however means very windy roads with steep drop-offs so I opted for the bus. Buses are great but reserved seats mean nothing...get on first or you may be standing in the aisles!
Hallie Hackenberger Oct 09, 2014 at 12:22 PM

Thanks for the info! I am on the same tour as yours but have opted for the post trip to PLakes. Leaving in two days!!

I'm on the Oct.11 trip. Does anyone know what the wi-fi or internet options are on the MS Futura?
Roberta Barnes Oct 04, 2014 at 03:04 AM

Futura is great! So is the wifi on it everywhere on the boat even put at sea!
Hallie Hackenberger Oct 04, 2014 at 01:52 PM

that is good to know. It certainly is a beautiful looking yacht!
Mary Ann L Oct 05, 2014 at 10:14 AM

Thank you, Roberta. A dear friend of mine is ill and I was worried about keeping in touch while on the ship.

I did this trip from Split to Dubrovnik in April and it was wonderful. I was in Yugoslavia in 1967, and saw many of the same places. The changes - even with the war of the '90s - were spectacular. I happened to be there on Tito's 75th birthday and there were banners and parades. This year, I found a booth in Zagreb pushing to change the name of Marshal Tito Square ... one suggestion was "Criminal Tito Square." Things change!
