I'll be arriving on Saturday, July 18th at around 5:00 p.m. I'm wondering whether anyone else is arriving early.
Nancy Morkert Jul 15, 2015 at 07:29 PM

My friend Joyce and I will be arriving before noon on Sunday.
Karla Honeycutt Jul 17, 2015 at 02:58 PM

I arrive at 9pm Saturday.

Ronald Kolb Jul 10, 2015 at 11:33 AM

Hello explorers! My wife and I are looking forward to this trip. I was in Yellowstone Park in 1953 and I believe it will be quite different now.

Nancy Morkert Jul 08, 2015 at 12:10 PM

Are there any other items (not mentioned in the RS info) that previous participates suggest bringing along for the July 19 trip?

Nancy Morkert Jul 08, 2015 at 12:09 PM

Any thoughts on clothing for this trip? Do the cabins in the parks get chilly at night for the July 19 trip? I tolerate heat better than cold.

Camilla Lee Jul 07, 2015 at 12:02 PM

Nancy, I loved this trip. It was a first RS trip for me. And first time traveling solo, and visiting our national parks. Yellowstone and Grand Tetons will blow you away.
Nancy Morkert Jul 08, 2015 at 11:57 AM

Thank you, Camilla...I am so looking forward to this!

Barbara Gasdick Jul 07, 2015 at 12:00 PM

Thinking of going on the Aug 14th trip. Any other single females going then?
Barbara Gasdick Jul 11, 2015 at 11:17 PM

Booked for 8/14! Going on float trip 8/19!

Nancy Morkert Jul 02, 2015 at 08:54 AM

The July 19th trip will be my first with Road Scholar; I was last in Rapid City 35 years ago, but have never been to Yellowstone or Grand Tetons.

Camilla Lee May 29, 2015 at 08:34 AM

Wondering if it's possible for a person to find a glass of wine on night #1 in Rapid City. Howard Johnson Express doesn't have a restaurant, and "no additional beverages for purchase" at the dinner venue. It will have been a long day of travel. I'm on the June 7 trip.
Carolyn Schuler May 29, 2015 at 09:58 AM

Get yourself downtown; you can find the Alex Johnson Hotel that has a nice bar and restaurant.
Camilla Lee May 29, 2015 at 11:39 AM

Carolyn, Thanks for the info.
Beverly Brown Jun 04, 2015 at 10:36 PM

How far is downtown? Can you walk or is there public transportation?
Carolyn Schuler Jun 04, 2015 at 10:46 PM

You will probably want to get a cab; get a map of Rapid City and see how far downtown is if you are the Howard Johnson's. I can't remember how far it is but think it's a bit far to walk.
