I am flying into Charleston April 14th around noon for this program and will stay for Historic Charleston program afterwards. If anyone is at the airrport at that time we could go into town together.

Anyone know the best way to travel to Charleston from Savannah? I will be coming from a Road Scholar trip in Savannah that ends on April 12, 2013 to attend a R.S. Charleston program on Aprl 14. Amtrak is possibility. Has anyone taken this route? Any info. will be helpful. Thank you.

Just wanted to Post this info. for anyone that now or in the future wants to know about getting to Charleston from Savannh: Amtrak trains depart only twice a day from Savannah--once in the morning around 8:30 and in the evening at around 7:30. Fares are in the $25-30 something range depending on regular coach or business seats. From Charleston to Savannah, there is a train in the morning and one in the evening. Hope this info. helps anyone looking for transportation alternative when combining two trips back to back.

Just finished the April 14-19th program. Amtrak is a great way to get to Charleston from Savannah. It took a morning train from Savannah, business class on a Friday morning was wonderful! Not a crowded car, had choice of seat, nice scenery for the 1 1/2 hour trip. Both stations are small, but clean and with waiting areas. Can get transportation easily to Amtrak station in Savannah from historic district for $9.00. A taxi is parked at the Charleston station if needed. I enjoyed the train ride!

I live in Winter Park, FL, and am interested in riding with someone. We would pay the gasoline, of course. Alice M.
