The Feb 8-13 program was cancelled, so I signed up for the Feb 22-27 program. Anyone else sign up? Any one else request a roommate for this program?
Dorothy Allen Dec 22, 2014 at 05:22 PM

Hi Frances, I signed up for this program also. I will be rooming solo but I'm looking forward to meeting everyone. See you in February.

Is it important to have a photo editing program on our computer, in addition to what is available in iPhoto?
Annamarie Lavieri Aug 09, 2014 at 10:56 PM

Hi Ellie, I took this class about 2 1/2 years ago, we did not need a photo edtiing program. I did have my lap top with me and was able to review my photos each evening. I really enjoyed this class, it's a lot of fun.

Kathy Rock Jan 12, 2014 at 11:34 PM

What editing software will be appropriate?
Sheryl Williams Jan 13, 2014 at 05:41 PM

I believe our instructor was a fan of Lightroom and Photoshop. Congrats on retiring!

Kathy Rock Jan 12, 2014 at 11:32 PM

Thanks to you both! I am excited to attend, just want to be prepared. This is my first big adventure after retiring in October.
Rion Millen Feb 02, 2014 at 12:08 PM

Kathy - My very first Road Scholar program was this one in Oct, 2012. It was an exceptional learning and socializing experience. I wrote a review for the class and gave a brief synopsis of what to expect (see Rion under the Reviews section). I'm considering taking this class again this Oct as it includes a trip to the Grand Canyon which was not part of my class (lucky you). One consideration is to bring a lightweight tripod (a tripod is a "must"). I learned a lot about my camera and shooting techniques which has spurred me to take additional classes since. Hope this helps and enjoy the experience.

Hi I am a first time Road Scholar attendee. Going to the photo class Feb 23-28, 2014 and wondered if I will need my laptop. Also I am a beginner at photography will I be out of place?
Mary Ann Longshore Jan 12, 2014 at 08:45 PM

Kathy, I went on last year's trip. Yes, you will need your laptop for back up and for editing, Also take a thumb drive for taking shots for critiques. You will not be out of place. We had beginners and more experienced photographers.
Nancy Hassman Jan 12, 2014 at 10:08 PM

I totally agree with Kathy. You will not feel out of place. You'll have a great time! A laptop and thumb drive will be so helpful to you. Enjoy the experience!
Nancy Hassman Jan 12, 2014 at 10:08 PM

Sorry, I meant to say Mary Ann.

Last Sept I went to a photo workshop at Camp Sagamore in the Adirondacks. It was a beautiful setting and a great group of people to be in class with.

Hi Ellen
I took the March class and had a wonderful experience. Some long days but very rewarding!
Ellen Leible Apr 24, 2013 at 10:07 PM

Hi SherylHave you attended other Road Scholar photography workshops? I learned so much last year and am looking forward to once again learning new techniques.

Ellen Leible Apr 24, 2013 at 09:57 PM

My friend Lynn and I will be joining the May 19-24, 2013 program. We enjoyed a wonderful workshop in Portland Oregon last spring. We are looking forward to meeting the rest of the group and taking some more awesome photos.
I live in the beautiful state of Colorado and Lynn lives farther north in Wisconsin.
Would love to hear from others in the group.

I just signed up for the Feb 8-13 program and asked to be paired with a roommate. Anyone else going on this one?
