I was on the Futura early Oct. last year. Five or six of us went swimming in the Adriatic several times when anchored.

We are signed up for the Sept.25th on the Barbara. Any comments?
We are from Los Angeles

I was on the Futura for this trip last year. We were served one glass of wine with each lunch and dinner on board. Additional drinks went on your tab and could be paid with Kunas or Euros at end of the trip, as I recall. Ashore in Croatia only Kunas were accepted in shops and restaurants, easily obtained with a bank debit card at ATM machines. Montenegro was an exception - Euros only. I started my trip in Zagreb and took in performances at their opera house and symphony hall. After the program ended in Herceg Novi I returned for extra days in nearby beautiful (though expensive) Dubrovnik.

There are three of us signed up for the Oct. 10 - 22nd trip on the Futura. We are also doing the pre trip starting in Zagreb. While touring the Cities or buying booze on the ship, should we bring Croatian money with us??? Do they accept Euros in the town. What is the best way to go. My Sister and I will travel from Tampa, Florida and our friend from Atlanta. Looking forward to the trip.

Just got back from Croatia. Most places only accept the kuna-Croatian currency. On board, you run a tab and pay in kunas at the end of the voyage. We were on the Vapor; don't know if the Futura has the same policy.

Just signed up for Oct. 25, 2015 trip. A friend who went a few years ago reminded me to take a swimsuit. That item is not listed in "clothing suggestions".

Anyone else going that week? I'm leaving from Chicago.

We just went last month - great trip! The hotel in Herceg Novi had a pool but it was outdoor.

My wife, Nancy, and I (Frank) are on the Sept 16 trip on the Vita. We are living in Saratoga springs, NY and also have a place at Lake George. Doing the extension afterward as well as arriving in Dubrovnik a couple of days early. Were in Dubrovnik in 1990 just before the war and loved it! Looking to engage with fellow travelers - also any tips others have who have been on this tour.

If you want to walk the wall go very early. Once the cruise ships arrive each morning, the wall is a crowded thoroughfare. The other option is after they leave -- about 4pm each day.

We just got back from a great trip on the Vita. It was a great ship with a great crew. You will enjoy it. We had planned to go on the extension but it was cancelled because of too few people. We went by ourselves to Zagreb and enjoyed it. I note that the extension goes to Varazdin, which was the subject of a page long article in today's Travel Section of the New York Times. It would be a good article to read before your trip.

My husband, Chuck, and I will be on this trip. We are trying to get on top of Balkan history!

Some critical comments have been made about the hotel in Split. Road Scholar obviously paid attention to this and changed the hotel. We stayed at the new hotel, the Cornaro Hotel, and it was excellent in all regards. Also there were questions about wine on the boat. On the Vita, there was wine and beer (one glass)free at lunch and dinner. Finally, there was pretty good WIFI on the Vita most of the time, even when the vessel was underway.

In April 2014, we were perfectly happy with the hotel in Split; clean and easy to walk to and from. It's easy to forget that this is Road Scholar, formerly Elderhostel and not a pricey commercial tour.
