ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.

I was on Futura last year April 20, weather was mostly cool and overcast. Free glass of wine with lunch and dinner on board, more available for purchase, dollars and Kuna accepted as I recall.
Carol Moore Apr 26, 2015 at 04:01 PM

Futura is a DeLuxe ship; Vapor is a Category A+. Our wine may not be free.

Carol Moore Apr 25, 2015 at 02:09 PM

Going on the May 28-June 9 trip on the Vapor. Does anyone have info on this ship? Any luggage restrictions? Only cash on board?

Lee Goldenberg Apr 25, 2015 at 07:32 AM

We are on the April 26 Croatia by Sea tour. We are already at the hotel in Hercg Novi. If you are on the same tour and get in a day early (today), and are interested in seeing the Blue Grotto (number 1 attraction here), we chartered a small boat tomorrow morning (10am) to take us there. The boat cost 50 euros and will hold six people. Right now it is only my wife and I. If your interested in joining us, email me at: henlee@charter.net.

We will be on the May 14th trip. Any information on what expect as far as weather? Have seen the average highs and lows but would like to hear from a program participant. Also, how does one pay for the alcohol on board? Credit card accepted?
Charles Routh Apr 21, 2015 at 04:26 PM

We will also be on the May 14th trip. The weather reports we see are in the high 60s to low 70s, with some occasional showers. For example the weather report for

weather report for Split on April 22 is sunny and 73 degrees. I seem to remember that bar bills have to be paid in cash (Kunas). However I feel sure that we will no problem in getting access to an ATM or paying by a credit card. I plan to get a modest amount of Kunas at the airport in Dubrovnik. Note that the first hotel is in Montenegro, which uses Euros.
Christine Harris Apr 21, 2015 at 05:24 PM

Thanks! Looking forward to meeting you!
Doris Clevenger Apr 25, 2015 at 11:19 AM

The captain requests cash on board for alcohol. But ATM's make it easy to get cash.

Anyone going on the May 6th trip might want to express concern to RS about the change in ship from the Vita to the Vapor. The differences in amenities & conditions is quite disturbing.
Guy Archer Apr 13, 2015 at 09:15 PM

What are the differences in amenities and conditions?
Kathleen East Apr 16, 2015 at 11:23 AM

Compare the ships on their websites below. The photos tell the story. MS Vita - http://www.cruise.croatia-istria.com/ship/63/ MS Vapor - http://www.katarina-line.com/ships/a-plus-category-ships/item/vapor.html
Doris Clevenger Apr 26, 2015 at 10:30 AM

Kathleen, like Guy Archer, I can't tell the differences in amenities and conditions among the small ships.
Doris Clevenger Apr 26, 2015 at 10:33 AM

to continue..the Barbara was absolutely clean and the crew friendly and competent; the food excellent. There is a difference between above deck and below deck cabins, but other than that I think all accommodations were equal.

Guy Archer Mar 24, 2015 at 08:51 PM

Is there anyone starting on May 28, 2015, who would like to chat? We're a couple from Honolulu looking forward to our first Road Scholar trip in lovely Dalmatia.
Carol Cissel Apr 03, 2015 at 11:08 AM

I'll be on the same trip, a Road Scholar newbie. I lived in Honolulu (East Honolulu, Hawaii Kai) from 1980-1992. I'm looking forward to meeting you. Carol

How many ships does RS have on this cruise? Are they all small, like the Barbara. Our amenities, food, crew were fabulous. doris clevenger
Carol Moore Apr 24, 2015 at 02:31 PM

We are going on the same trip. We have traveled with Road Scholar several times, but never to Croatia and never on a yacht. We are from New Hampshire. Does anyone have any info on how many suitcases we can bring? Not for the plane, but for the yacht. The cabins don't seem to have much storage space. The ship we are going on is the MS Vapor.
Carol Moore Apr 24, 2015 at 02:37 PM

Doris Clevenger Apr 25, 2015 at 11:22 AM

I was aboard the "Barbara." I travel with one carry 0n sized bag at all times; and this bag was ok for the cabin.
Carol Moore Apr 25, 2015 at 02:07 PM

One carry on for 13 days? Really? Did you travel alone? The Barbara is a different cruise line from the Vapor.
Carol Cissel Apr 25, 2015 at 02:56 PM

I'm traveling by myself and plan to bring one carry-on suitcase (the small kind with wheels, that you can pull) and a small knapsack.
Doris Clevenger Apr 25, 2015 at 11:53 PM

This is for carol cissel and carol moore. Yes, I traveled by myself and everything went well. I don't know the difference between these ship, the Vapor, Vita, and Barbara.

We are excited to join the group who will take this trip at the end of May-first week of June on the Vita. If you have made this voyage during the first week of June, we would love to hear from you, especially about the temperature. How warm are the days, and how cool are the evenings?
