See all of our Most Popular programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Just returned from a fabulous trip to Sicily. Enrico is absolutely the best guide. The food, presentations, field trips and scenery was outstanding. This was only our second RS trip so we overpacked with two checked bags. My only suggestion to any of you traveling trough Italy using Alitalia airlines is to not check any bags unless absolutely necessary. Five of us were traveling together and all of us (we were the only ones from a group of 31) experienced not having our luggage sent from Rome to the Cantania airport in Sicily. One member of our party received her bag after four days, three others after eight days, and mine was returned by a courier on the nineth day as we met in a gas station parking lot as we were leaving towards Palermo. Other than the frustrating experience of trying to deal with that airlines it was a fabulous trip. Enjoy!

We've signed up for this program but not departing until 10/20/14. We've been to Italy twice but not to this part of the country. We're anxious to explore this region & to meet fellow participants.

Diana it looks like you will be in the second class. Sorry we will miss each other.

Philip Andrews Sep 24, 2014 at 03:34 PM

My wife and I are in the class 10-14 to 10-29. Any one going to that class? This will be our third class in Italy and our second with this tour leader. He is wonderful and we are looking forward to meeting others in the class.

I will be on the 10/14-10/29 trip - traveling alone. Anyone else flying out of N.Y.? Really looking forward to the trip
Philip Andrews Sep 27, 2014 at 11:34 PM

We will already be in Italy. We fly into Florence on the 7th and will join the class from there. See you then.

Oh my, sorry to hear about your suitcase. One person in our group experienced that, too. Ralph offered underwear, but there was a shop close to the first hotel. We all celebrated when they appeared in different (outer) clothes! - It's a wonderful, wonderful trip. Enjoy everyone! CAROLE

Ralph Kline Sep 06, 2014 at 12:55 PM

By the way, I'm Carole (not Ralph)! We were in Sicily at the end of October into November. The weather was perfect. The only time we needed a jacket was when we visited the very high hill town in the northwest (Noto?) Don't have a map with me.

Ralph Kline Sep 06, 2014 at 12:39 PM

I second Carol's comment below. None of our group, last fall, had or used either a cane or a walking stick.
Rita Houlihan Sep 08, 2014 at 02:11 AM

OK thank you. Since Alitalia has lost my suitcase I wasn'the able to test my walking stick in Pompeii - but I didn'the need one there, just need some new clothes!!

Carol Kurtz Sep 06, 2014 at 10:12 AM

I didn't use or need a walking stick on the Treasures of Sicily trip. None of my fellow travelers had one but, as always, that is a personal preference. If you normally use one you might want to have it with you.

Diana Dunning Sep 06, 2014 at 02:03 AM

We are signed up for the "Treasures of Sicily" departing 10/20/14. Someone mentioned a walking stick..did I miss something. Was this piece of equipment mentioned in the brochure or suggested/required? I had not even thought of bringing anything for walking except a comfy pair of shoes.
Rita Houlihan Sep 08, 2014 at 02:09 AM

the list of suggested items in the hardcopy itinerary do received includes a walking stick. Alitalia lost my suitcase so I don't have my walking stick so cannot tell you whether or not I will find it useful. I'mean over b in Naples for a few days before the Treasures of Sicily trip that starts on the 9th.
