Looking forward to meeting others on the Oct 5 tour. Leaving from Detroit, MI arriving at 6am. Any others with a similar itinerary?
Peter Griffin Oct 03, 2015 at 02:08 PM

See 'ya there, but not at 6AM! Peter & Joan Griffin

This is a great itinerary. LOTS of London is seen. Be prepared for London to have lots of construction - traffic delays, etc. Our leaders were great at navigating around them, suggesting alternate routes for the excellent coach drivers.
Coaches are VERY comfortable, by the way!
Access to the underground is VERY close to the hotel (we stayed at the Radisson Blu Grafton) Great free time area! Short walks to many interesting possibilities.
Bring solid walking shoes. ALWAYS have a (small) umbrella handy. Plan on getting an Oyster Card for free time use - for ALL public transport systems, if walking is not to your liking.
Peter Griffin Sep 13, 2015 at 10:48 AM

Thx for your comments... If you stayed past the official end of the tour could you recommend a place to move to?
Bobbi M-L Sep 13, 2015 at 06:44 PM

Peter, Do you want to stay in London? or closer to Heathrow?
Peter Griffin Sep 13, 2015 at 08:56 PM

In London ...

Bobbi M-L Aug 15, 2015 at 01:10 PM

Looking forward to meeting others in the London group for Aug 24 - Sept 2. I will stay open to possibilities as I explore sites not listed on our itinerary -SO much to do- so little time! Hotel change seems to add to walking possibilities and sites in our 'free time', evening shows, etc.
Safe travels, fellow Road Scholars. Bobbi

Hi - since you will be back before we leave (Oct 5) we would appreciate any post trip comments you would care to share.
Bobbi M-L Aug 15, 2015 at 06:40 PM

Yes- I had thought to do that - Will be glad to note significant helps for you and your fellow travelers! I hope I well still have access to this site - but will use the more open, general site, if needed.

Are there any other solo participants for the Aug 24 departure? I will beleaving out of Boston- but look forward to meeting others with like interests - I have lots!
no roommate at the moment. Looks like it will be a surprise at the hotel?! Has anyone ever done this before with Road Scholar?

Bobbi M-L Jul 29, 2015 at 07:36 AM

Peter, I am doing something similar on the Aug 24 departure, but out of Boston. Booked outings from home to go to Stonehenge and a reply came through that the roads are being worked on, passage was a challenge and some trips were going to be cancelled, Beware- might plan alternately.
There are several choices and I will be able to add some day trips for reasonable cost.
Is this your first trip to London?
Peter Griffin Jul 29, 2015 at 10:14 AM

Bobbi - Thx for the heads up re Stonehedge... will check b/4 leaving. Perhaps the road work w/b completed by Oct.
Peter Griffin Jul 29, 2015 at 10:49 AM

HENGE - it's StoneHENGE...I hate autocorrect. Yes, this is our 1st trip to England. Sorry we will not have the benefit of your experience.
Bobbi M-L Sep 12, 2015 at 03:14 PM

I am settled in, back from my extended stay- hope you are helped by the post I submitted above. We were told that the coaches were too large for some of the turns and that may not have an effect on your plans. You will enjoy a day put of the city- countryside is SO beautiful.

Leaving from Dulles, we are on the 10/5 trip and are planning to stay over a day or two to visit Stonehenge, Bath, and Bristol. Anyone else?
Conceicao Andrade Jul 23, 2015 at 11:44 AM

I'm leaving from Dulles too on the 27th, on British Airways. Looking forward to meeting everyone.
Conceicao Andrade Jul 23, 2015 at 11:49 AM

On the July trip.

Sally Dedecker Jul 13, 2015 at 09:55 AM

I am on the 9/28 group leaving out of Newark. Anyone else with similar plans?
Stephanie Hillman Sep 09, 2015 at 05:27 PM

Will be leaving on 9/28 from SFO. On one of our free evenings in London I hope to take in The Importance of Being Earnest with David Suchet as Lady Bracknell. Would like to hear from anyone else who would be interested in attending. It's had rave reviews.
Sally Dedecker Sep 09, 2015 at 06:49 PM

Great reviews!!! I may be interested. SDedecker@aol.com - let's connect.

Bobbi M-L Jun 29, 2015 at 08:35 AM

This my first time with Road Scholar- August 24 group- looking forward to every detail. Will be solo, but am hoping to fill free time with simple, but iconic London experiences. Hoping to meet someone for tea times! SO excited to finally be doing this! Any free time ideas appreciated ( I WILL be packing light!)
