See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Hi Rosemary,
Will look for you. Will be in early.

Patty Page Sep 29, 2014 at 03:21 PM

Any travelers on this trip leaving Kyoto for Tokyo by train on the last day?

Marcia Farquhar Sep 26, 2014 at 03:29 PM

RE Cultural highlights trip Oct 14 - 29, 2014, is anyone connecting via San Francisco on Oct 14 with departure at 2:20 pm. If so, perhaps we can connect at the San Fran airport..am travelling alone.
Rosemary Shiolas Sep 26, 2014 at 08:28 PM

I'm leaving SF at 12:20 p.m.- United #9689 - maybe we can connect briefly at the gate. Is there a way we can exchange email addresses?
Marcia Farquhar Sep 26, 2014 at 09:02 PM

I don't get into SF until 11:15 am, and will have to clear customs (coming from Canada) so I suspect there won't be time to connect. Would be glad to share email if there was a was to do it privately.
Dedham Goldberg Oct 09, 2014 at 07:53 PM

2 of us arrive in SF at 9:45 and leave on United at 12:20 would like to connect with any of you
Rosemary Shiolas Oct 10, 2014 at 12:32 AM

I'll look for you at the gate - will have a Road Scholar tag on my carry-on

Rosemary Shiolas Sep 26, 2014 at 02:45 PM

Anyone else planning a day at Koya-san at the end of our trip? I'm returning to US one day later in order to visit Mt Koya and would welcome companions on the train trip from Osaka. Rosemary

A friend who was recently in Japan says it is really true that ATMs are hard to find, except in 7-11 stores which are everywhere. I will be bringing a stash of yen and dollars for the dinner and other expenses and will replenish as needed by visiting the local 7-11.
Peggy Ryker Apr 08, 2014 at 04:01 PM

Bringing cashola ourselves. Money always works. Got a sim card from bmobile japan. Will have 1 gig of data plan if all goes well. Will be delivered to the first hotel.
Alice Engelman Apr 09, 2014 at 11:29 AM

Good for thinking ahead to a SIM card. I will have to rely on my iPhone and my AT&T Japan plan if I must use my phone. Otherwise, it's my iPad mini and wifi for e-mail and internet. I am so addicted to it that I can't leave home w/o it!
Peggy Ryker Apr 09, 2014 at 11:57 AM

Finally gave up my iPhone because in my Samsung, I have a removeable sim, a removaeble battery and a memory card. Miss my ebay.

Peggy Ryker Apr 06, 2014 at 10:48 AM

We will have yen to pay for our dinner. If they will separate checks, we will usea credit card.
Betsy Lease Apr 06, 2014 at 03:13 PM

Yep, I am sure they will take our money, but will let you know if/when I hear from Naomi. Getting close! Fred an I go through Lexington on trips between Indiana and Texas.

Betsy Lease Apr 05, 2014 at 12:59 PM

Peggy, Alice, Joseph, etc. regarding Japan 19725, April 15 trip:
Fred and I have asked to have a kaiseki dinner reservation for Day 13 in Kyoto made for us. We have asked Naomi, our leader, to keep the reservation commitment under $200.00 per person. We have also requested it be close to our hotel, if possible. If any one on the trip would like to join us, we are happy to have you experience this with us. Please let us know by April 12; we will send numbers on to Naomi and her colleagues.
Alice Engelman Apr 05, 2014 at 01:19 PM

Sounds wonderful. I have some reservations about the amount of food and the true appreciation I can bring to the meal but I want to try so count me in. How will we pay: yen or credit card?
Betsy Lease Apr 05, 2014 at 02:39 PM

Betsy Lease Apr 05, 2014 at 02:40 PM

Oh, I won't eat all of it either. It is called "tastings" just for me. :) We'll count you in.
Betsy Lease Apr 05, 2014 at 02:41 PM

I am assuming that credit card should do it. But will ask Naomi.
Peggy Ryker Apr 05, 2014 at 04:19 PM

Ron and I would be happy to join you. Let is know how we pay you.
Sandra Marble Apr 05, 2014 at 05:30 PM

HI Betsy I would love to join you also.

Betsy Lease Apr 05, 2014 at 10:35 PM

Ron, Peggy Sandra, Counting all of you in the group. I once again will ask Naomi if they will take separate checks -- or other options. Will let all of you know. Looking forward --
Alice Engelman Apr 06, 2014 at 08:50 AM

Didn't see my name so hope you are remembering that I want to be included as well.

Peggy Ryker Mar 22, 2014 at 01:49 PM

I am bringing very light weight silky blouses that weigh nothing and black, and deep purlple microfiber long sleep shirts I will wear under them, have thick black tights to wear under very thin and very light pants. Have a Columbia rain jacket with a polartec liner. Wool socks and away we go.
Peggy Ryker Mar 25, 2014 at 08:08 AM

That would be long sleeved microfiber shirts. Not known for my clerical skills.
