I'm on the Nov 7th trip. Does anyone know where, how long and level of activity on the high altitude areas? Altitude of 6,000 ft is mentioned.

Arlynn Joffe Aug 14, 2015 at 12:41 PM

We are going on the November trip. Anyone know what the weather will be then?

Anne Decker Jul 07, 2015 at 03:39 PM

I'm thinking about the March 10, 2016 trip - anybody else?

Pamela Fraser May 12, 2015 at 06:10 PM

I am going on the Nov. trip and would like to meet any others on this trip.
Corinne Distephan Jul 20, 2015 at 09:33 PM

Corinne Di Stephan from NY will be there!

Diane Ryan Feb 23, 2015 at 09:19 AM

My husband and I will be on the March 7 tour. Wishing to say hello to other fellow travelers.
Rosanne Frost Mar 05, 2015 at 11:53 AM

Hello. See you Sunday morning!!

Katharine Kato Jan 13, 2015 at 01:43 PM

I'm going on the Mar 7 tour and wondered if it is necessary to get a Yellow Fever inoculation. I read on the CDC/travel website re Iguasu that it is not required, but recommended.
Elizabeth Mutran Jan 19, 2015 at 11:11 AM

We went ahead with the typhoid vaccine, but not the yellow fever. We were advised for areas with yellow fever (Iguazu Falls) to wear long sleeves and use insect repellent. But that was for our given situation.
Elizabeth Mutran Jan 19, 2015 at 11:13 AM

I guess my earlier post did not go through. We asked both our primary care doctor and local public health nurse about yellow fever inoculation. There is an age limit above which you are cautioned not to take it. My husband at 79 was over that age, although I do not remember the exact age above which one is cautioned.
Elizabeth Mutran Jan 19, 2015 at 11:39 AM

CDC cautions on their web page, "Adults 60 years of age and older who cannot avoid travel to a yellow fever area should discuss vaccination with their doctor. They might be at increased risk for severe problems following vaccination."
Evelyn Thompson Jan 23, 2015 at 10:28 AM

Elizabetih, do you know what area(s) are risky for typhoid?
Elizabeth Mutran Jan 23, 2015 at 10:40 AM

I recommend that you check out this site http://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/destinations/traveler/none/chile and the comparable page for Argentina http://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/destinations/traveler/none/argentina. Then talk to your physician. I am not a physician nor nurse. Sorry I cannot give more specifics.
Evelyn Thompson Feb 26, 2015 at 11:33 AM

just back from the trip. At Iguazu there was no talk of yellow fever. I didn't even hear anyone complain about mosquitos. At the falls there are government health tents where they provide free insect repellent (and take your blood pressure, etc) The falls were fabulous.

I am from Toronto Canada and enrolled in Feb 14 - Feb 27, 2015 Wonders of Chile and Argentina and I was wondering if there are other Canadians on the program? Karen P.

Any idea about what happens if your checked bag exceeds 33 lbs. on argentine airline? Lynn R.
