On Road Scholar trips, you don't get the actual detailed itinerary (with times, etc.) until you get there. What I would appreciate is if anyone who has done this trip could send me a copy of the details so that we can get a better idea of what to expect. This is a BIG trip and we'd like to be prepared for it!

Have you read the "Daily Schedule" listed above at Program Details? And read the reviews posted by past participants? Those should tell you everything you need to know. This was a wonderful program (I did it in June 2011). And if you are lucky enough to have Andrea John as your leader, you are in for a wonderful adventure. I will say this is the perfect way to tour Switzerland - you will travel by train, bus, boat, streetcar, and your own power, and you will see all the beauty of this special land. But you must leave something for a surprise for when you get there!!

Hi Charmaine!

Has anyone taken a Rick Steves tour? How do they compare with Road Scholar? We like Rick Steves but may want to try something new. Thanks!

I'm going on Switzerland trip Sept.25. Minneapolis to Atlanta to Zurich. Am assigned a roommate. Who is she?

Margaret Jennings Jun 29, 2013 at 02:57 PM

We just returned from the June 10--25 trip and it was nothing short of amazing! If anyone has any questions, please feel free to contact me directly (margaret.p.jennings@gmail.com). Be ready for lots of walking and gorgeous views!

We are going to be in the group that tours Switzerland by Rail with Road Scholar starting August 12th. Anyone else out there going to be with us? Barb and Lanny Bertram, Avon, Indiana
Tom Guilfoy Apr 14, 2013 at 10:38 AM

Hi Barb & Lanny ~ I'm planning to take the same trip. Have been planning it for years. My first RS trip. Hope the weather is great. Tom
Barbara Bertram Apr 14, 2013 at 11:57 AM

Hi Tom-- where are you going to be traveling from? We are flying direct to Zurich out of Chicago. We have traveled with RS to Italy and it was a fabulous trip--hoping for the same in Switzerland! Got our fingers crossed for good weather too.
Leslie Walker Apr 14, 2013 at 10:45 PM

Hello Barb and Tom, My husband Ron and I will be on the Aug 12 trip. We're from Macomb, IL and looking forward to our first RS trip. Nice to meet you all!
Leslie Walker May 08, 2013 at 03:10 PM

We'e flying out of Atlanta on Delta. Anyone else?
Barbara Bertram Jul 03, 2013 at 06:25 PM

Hi Leslie and Ron-- Lanny and I look forward to meeting you! We will be flying direct to Zurich from Chicago. Judging from our previous RS experience, there should be someone at the airport to greet all those who arrive in the morning and to get us directed to the hotel in Luzerne. So, if you are arriving on the morning of Aug 13, we'll see you at the Zurich airport!
David Owens Aug 01, 2013 at 02:04 PM

My wife Judy and I will be arriving at Zurich at 8:30am (Group pickup #1). If this trip is half as good as the RS Ireland Coasts program we took last year, we're in for a real treat. Looking forward to meeting all of you.

Peter W, Frey Mar 26, 2013 at 05:51 PM

I'm looking forward to meet all of you on the first morning after your arrival in Lucerne (I'll give the first two presentations in the program). Have a safe trip to Switzerland!
Tom Guilfoy Apr 14, 2013 at 10:39 AM

Hi Peter ~ I just registered. Look forward to meeting you on 8/13. I'm traveling solo. Tom
Barbara Bertram Jul 03, 2013 at 06:26 PM

Hi Peter-- we look forward to meeting you! Lanny and Barb Bertram
David Owens Aug 01, 2013 at 02:10 PM

My first and last trip to Lucerne was in 1968, when I was in the service in Germany. I brought my dad, who was a watchmaker. I think he spent as much time looking at swiss watches as he did the wonderful alpine scenery. He and you probably would have had a lot to talk about! Looking forward to your lectures, Peter.
