See all of our Most Popular programs.

See our Small Group programs.

ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Cuba: I understand that internet connectivity is challenging in Cuba but I intend to bring my laptop. For those who have been on this trip would you have concerns about leaving a laptop in the hotel room or is it easy and secure to take it out every day and to leave in on the motor coach at times?
Pamela Hazard Oct 20, 2014 at 09:54 AM

In the Hotel Nacional where you will spend several nights, the Internet connection is spotty and expensive. There is a safe in the room (just like the ones in US hotels that you can rent for About $3./day. Small laptop would fit. It's also safe on the bus, I would say. At the other hotel the Internet connection is better and slightly less pricey. Those are the only places where you can get a connection. Enjoy!

Will they have computers at these hotels that we can use for a fee if we don't have one we are bringing with us?
Pamela Hazard Oct 20, 2014 at 10:58 PM

No, I didn't see any computers in the hotels for guest's use. I brought my iPhone for picture-taking and twice went online to get emails. It's a good opportunity to "unplug". People there have cellphones--even iPhones but since it's still a communist country, the Internet is not made available to most people. (Artists seemed to be an exception but I am sure safeguards are put in place).

Cuba:
My wife and I are booked on the January 21, 2015, Cuba trip. I was there once with a high school group in 2001, and looking forward to a return visit. I'd be interested in connecting with others going on our same trip, Program #20610RJ Tom Bruno tombruno@tombruno.com
Eloise Mares Oct 19, 2014 at 10:45 PM

Thomas, I am booked on the January 21, 2015 trip also. Look forward to meeting you and your wife. It will be my first trip there. I have had close friends who are Cuban and have wanted to go for years. I love the music. .

So, I'm scheduled to go to Cuba in early March. Has anyone given any thought to Ebola and what it would mean if there are cases in the Caribbean?
Pamela Hazard Oct 20, 2014 at 09:58 AM

My guess is that Road Scholar is monitoring this situation. Make sure you get cancellation insurance just in case.

Frank Feigert Oct 07, 2014 at 09:59 PM

Bonnie Conley commented on your post on the Road Scholar Social Network.
"Is Canadian currency accepted everywhere, then? Also, is it possible purchase art and bring it back to the US?"
Cannot say whether it is accepted everywhere, but do use the hotel(s). Rates are favorable. As for buying art, check with your local guide, because there are occasional "fees" which detract from what the artist should get.

Eloise Mares Oct 01, 2014 at 09:45 PM

Are national drinks such as local beers and mojitos expensive? Will they be available with meals? Do we purchase our own bottled water or is it provided?
Pamela Hazard Oct 07, 2014 at 11:32 PM

Not to worry. There's usually a Mojito on the table at your place-setting at every meal. Non alcoholic available too. There's plenty of bottled water made available by Road Scholar.

I'm interested in travel to Cuba. Please comment on the accomodations, and how you would rate them.
Jeffrey Levy Sep 06, 2014 at 03:44 PM

The accomodations are fine. But they are the least important part of the experience. The most important part of a Road Scholar trip to Cuba are the cultural and historical aspects and they are superb. You won't spend much time in your room.

Lana. We are looking forward to meeting you and the group and having a great time in a Cuba. Do you have any information about the Jewish community in Havana. I know that the schedule is packed but if possible we would like to visit a synagogue etc.

Pamela Hazard Aug 22, 2014 at 04:51 PM

For those going to Cuba in October, you will have a great time with Lana at the helm!
