Hi George, Ronald & fellow AU RD S. Train Trekkers...as we booked our flights (mine Award travel & Janice bought hers) before we learned about Rd. S, we arrive early am SYD on 10/3/14. I want to do a day trip to the Blue Mountains & am considering doing the SYD Harbour Bridge climb (despite the cost)... Anyone else arriving early? Care to join us? Jo in Seattle, Jan/TX
Ronald Schimel Sep 05, 2014 at 06:07 PM

We arrive early the 6th so we wouldn't be able to join you for your early bird activities. Hope to squeeze in the bridge walk in our limited time in Sydney

Hi fellow Great Australian Train Trek 10/4/14 travelers. I was the instigator in motivating my wife and 2 other couples (my brother/sister-in-law, and 2close friends) into undertaking this "ambitious" adventure, so I'm hoping that I will still be in the good graces of my mates when it is concluded. Looking forward to meeting you and getting to know you as we trek around Oz.

I'm Jo in Seattle, WA & my travel buddy is Janice in Houston, TX (we were school chums 36 yrs ago...) This is our 1st RD S. trip...I've been to AU, 9 yrs ago w/an Intrepid Tour (van) Sydney to Cairns. We are going onto Melbourne then New Zealand for 1 month...breaking the bank, in our TRIP of a LifeTIME, 5 yrs in the planning.

It should be a terrific trip; I'm really looking forward to it, too. I was in Melbourne and in Tasmania about twelve years ago, but haven't seen the parts of Australia we'll cover in a few weeks. Looking forward to meeting both of you.

Hi folks! I'm curious who my fellow travelers will be on the October 2014 Great Australian Train Trek and how many have been to Oz before.

I am flying to Sydney 2/7. Hoping to find small group day tours. Anyone else doing the same? Any ideas? Thanks,
David Owens Jan 18, 2014 at 12:50 PM

My next door neighbor just got back from Sydney, and said the most interesting thing he did there was the bridge climb. Just google "Sydney Bridge Tour" for details. (It's not cheap, but then what is.) See you next month.

Sounds like a fun and pretty physical activity. Hope to meet you on the program. Are you flying out of LAX 2/15?
Richard Bramble Feb 11, 2014 at 01:00 AM

I arrived Sydney 2/9. Great city, walker friendly so far. Harbor ferries are great, weather decent too.
David Owens Feb 11, 2014 at 10:49 AM

Wish we were down there now, as the Carolinas are about to get hit with a winter storm. Hopefully it will all be gone by Saturday, and we'll make our 10pm LAX departure.
