I would like to take this trip on Nov 7th. Has anyone done so and how much rain did you get since it is still rainy season.

This will be my first overseas birding trip. My friend, Carolyn, and I will be on the Feb. 9th trip connecting through Houston. Would love input from others. Do any of the hotels/lodges have wifi besides the last one in San Juan?

Hi Ann- I didn't have a computer, but I do recall people in our group using wifi throughout the 2 weeks. Savegre, La Ensenada and Selva Verde were definates,I think. And the last hotel lets you call the US for free. Make sure you check that out though. Also, the last hotel will take care of your departure fee for a charge. Good luck!

I would appreciate it if those of you who have been on this trip in December or January would comment on your experience with mosquitos. Have any of the areas we go to had Dengue fever reported?
Premium Email Subscriber Jan 23, 2013 at 08:05 AM

Hi Peggy- I was on the Dec. trip, and I got 2 bites at Cano Negro walking around town in the dark. Other than that, I don't remember anyone complaining about bugs. Dengue Fever was not an issue in the area where you'll be as far as I know. Have fun!!

Hi Liaz, and Bill and Sandy, too. When my husband dropped me off at Ohare in Dec. I was shocked to see a ton of people at the AA area so early in the morning. But those little machines that allow you to get your boarding pass on your own were a lifesaver. There's help nearby if you need it. Have a great trip.

We are going on the March 5 program-leaving from Ohare. Bill and Sandy

I will be going on the February 16 trip and sharing a room with one of you. Might it be you?
Kathy Thompson Jan 15, 2013 at 02:42 PM

Not me, Peggy. I leave am on the trip that leaves Feb 5th not the 16th.

Kathy Thompson Jan 10, 2013 at 09:51 PM

Anybody leaving from Boston Feb 5th? My flight leaves at 8 am....
Premium Email Subscriber Jan 10, 2013 at 11:20 PM

Are you leaving from Vt. the day before? I asked the same question when I left from Chicago, but there was no going from here. I'll send you an email if you'd like some helpful hints for the flight, especially if you're flying via Miami. Carole Schoeck
