Hello. I am attending this program Feb. 29, 2016 and looking for a compatible roommate. If you are, too, please contact me so we can see if we might be a good match. I'm quiet, tidy, flexible, don't snore. Have been paired with several women in the past and have gotten along well with all of them. I look forward to hearing from like-minded women.

Getting very excited about this trip. Lost my traveling companion last year and I am wondering if there is a lady who would like to share a room. I am a well-behaved retired children's librarian now living in Tucson.

My husband Kurt and I (retired academic librarians from Dallas) are also making our first trip to to New Zealand. We've been studying the bird checklist that Warren and Marita emailed the group, and we see that there are some birds listed that we have been in India and Australia, but many more that we have not, so we have studying to do before we see y'all in Auckland! Hi fellow travelers and 'birders'.
This is our first trip to New Zealand. Not looking forward to the air flights, but excited about the trip.

Georgia is the serious birder, Richard is an SOB, a casual birder. We've been on birding trips before.

Ruth, we're also from CA. SLO area.

My husband Kurt and I are very much looking forward to the March 2015 tour. I notice in the itinerary that travel by "coach" is common on this trip. It would be helpful to hear from previous travelers whether "coach" refers to sightseeing buses with upholstered seats or minivans with bench seats. I have been on birding tours involving both vehicles, and I will pack a gel cushion if "coach" means the latter. Thanks in advance for your help with this packing decision.

We were not on a large bus, and we had no uncomfortableness with the seating. I can't remember if it was bench seating or not.

We were on the trip last spring. A good time in a wonderful country. Our only problem was that the bird leader broke his leg and was unable to lead us. The leaders we got were not into birding and therefore we were not overjoyed. Our best times in trips with this organization were to Norway and Ecuador. Which were absolutely fantastic.
RUTH JESSEN Sep 18, 2013 at 12:21 PM

Yikes! Hopefully that problem has been remedied. It would be too bad to make that long trip and then be disappointed.

RUTH JESSEN Sep 17, 2013 at 07:16 PM

I'm from the opposite side of the country, in CA, and for some reason the website doesn't recognize that I am participating in this program. Nevertheless, I am, and probably my lack of computer skills explains the lapse. But it is good to meet you on line, will be even better to meet you both in Auckland. Different culture, different birds. Should be interesting.

Jack Whiting Sep 19, 2012 at 10:07 PM

Would love to meet others on this program. Jill and I are looking forward to a great time and lots of birds. We live in Mass.
