Would like to hear from someone who went on this trip, are hiking boots necessary or would hiking sneakers suffice? Also, would hiking poles be advised?
Ann Gussett May 14, 2015 at 09:55 PM

I did not use hiking boots. The trip is great and scenery amazing. I love the Road Scholar Programs and have been on at least 14. Have fun. Ann

Thanks for the advice on the hiking boots! They take up too much room in the suitcase. I am spending a few days in Calgary prior to this trip.

My husband and I have signed up for this trip for July 5, 2015. Does anyone have any suggestions about when to purchase plane tickets for a good price i.e. is it better to do it now or wait until it's closer to the trip? We're coming from Albany, NY. We're very excited about the trip which will be our 1st one with Road Scholars.

Road Scholar will make the reservations for you if you contact them. They charge a small fee, but can usually get a good rate.

My wife is returning to California on September 15, and I am looking for a way to get to Montana without going through the Seattle airport. Willing to pay an air fare for a car ride to Montana. Can anyone help?

What is the size of the groups for this tour? I usually like to extend my stay. Has anyone done either another tour or independent touring in conjunction with this trip?

Will be on the Aug. '14 trip, looking to link up at the Calgary airport for the shuttle.

Any comments about avoiding large roaming charges while in Canada? We have Verizon. We will be on the July 6, 2014 tour.
Lois Dam Jul 01, 2014 at 10:28 PM

I called Verizon and was told I could extend my coverage (phone) to Canada for 15/month; texting is free and I can one can add data for Canada for an additional fee.

Hi, I am going on the July 6, 2014 tour. Very excited about seeing this spectacular area. My sister and her husband will be with me, after coming over from England.
Carl Bryan Jun 25, 2014 at 07:57 PM

My favorite Canadian adventure so far was Toronto to Vancouver on ViaRail. Most of the other passengers in first class were from England, A history professor from Oxford and I had done a mile-by-mile sightseeing guide, and we spent many hours comparing notes. The Canadian Rockies were certainly the highlight of that trip.

Anyone going on the July 6, 2014 one?
