I will be traveling solo on the Greece: Island Hopping trip 9/17-10/1/2014. This will be my first Road Scholar adventure. Would enjoy communicating with others on the trip.

My mother and I got officially booked for the Sept 3-17 trip. Just checking to see if there is anyone else enrolled for these dates.

I am Greek Island hopping leaving Atlanta on May 28 and flying throught Amsterdam. I have been told that the Aegean is rather rough. Is this true, and what are the ferries like?
Pat Landes Jun 11, 2014 at 06:23 PM

I don't know, but hope someone will answer you. I'm going on the Sept. 10 trip.

Joan Riggle Mar 21, 2014 at 09:24 AM

We are going Sept. 10-24.

My sister-in-law and I will be on the Road Scholar tour, which seems to have an extra day in Athens and Istanbul, but travels on the same ship and integrates with Voyages to Antiquity on board.. We live in NYC and are retired. I was a classics professor but have only been once to Greece and never to most places on our itinerary.

I have never been on a cruise before and am attracted to small boats that can go to small harbors. But I need dramamine to fly or drive hilly roads. Are small boats stable enough to protect against seasickness?

I am a first time Road Scholar and welcome suggestions on what to pack, how many Euros to bring with me, etc. I have a lot going on between now and September 18th and really need to get organized ASAP.
Alice Howard Aug 22, 2013 at 02:35 PM

Hi Carolyn -- I'm on the 9/4-9/18 trip -- and have done some Road Scholar programs before. Caveat: am not the world's lightest packer -- for a 2 week trip I'll take 4 pants (wear 1, pack 3), 3 pairs of really comfortable shoes (wear 1, pack 2), a very lightweight fleece jacket, a small number of shirts and a few tshirt-type tops -- assorted underwear, pjs, a floppy hat (sun protection),and an assortment of supporting meds, toiletries, cosmetics, etc. I do take a few Euros with me, but have found it's easy to get them from an ATM machine when I get there. Hope this helps -- Enjoy!
Alice Howard Aug 22, 2013 at 06:53 PM

p.s. on other Road Scholar programs I've attended the dress was pretty casual -- not a lot of 'dressing up' -- except maybe for the last 'Farewell' dinner.
Carolyn Zeliff Aug 29, 2013 at 08:19 PM

Thank you Alice. Do you know if there will be an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful beaches? Also are Bermuda or knee length shorts okay?

Carolyn Zeliff Aug 07, 2013 at 09:11 PM

Program #90916RJ To women going on this trip: What are you bringing? How much cash, Euros, are you thing with you? Any suggestions from seasoned travelers are welcome!
