I'm reading Some neg reviews about the Millenium Glouchester. We had been a bit concerned about the change of hotels, away from one that apparently had the river and Tower Bridge views, and closer walking distances from some of the more famous sites....
Denise Pott Jul 16, 2014 at 07:02 PM

I have read the same thing. The hotel has been renovated on Floor 4 and up. I shared this info with Road Scholar and they are passing it on to the folks in London.

Denise Pott Jun 07, 2014 at 12:34 PM

Oh, and they charge for internet. From the pictures, it looks like the rooms don't have windows? The hotel website states that there is no access to the Picadilly line....
Denise Pott Jun 07, 2014 at 01:30 PM

PS: received this on a Saturday with no way to contact anyone until Monday......

Attending program Sept 6; just received email with program on it that contains numerous errors and the possibility that we have been moved from the hotel on the Thames that I had so been looking forward to, to a location with limited access to the tube. Is anyone else concerned?

My husband are going to Independent London
Aug 23rd to Aug 31. Anyone leaving from
Atlanta for that trip?

Denise Pott Apr 26, 2014 at 09:06 AM

I attended a London Program in 2011 and fell in love with the city. Our guide was phenomenal; I can't wait to go back.

PS: I will be on the September 6-14 Tour

I am Eleanor, going to participate Independent London: Roman Walls and Historic Royal Palaces, May 25-June2. I will arrive London Heathrow Airport by British Airway at 1:40PM. Is there any participant of the same program arriving the same time want to share a ride to get to The GuomanTower Hotel?

Jeanette Huettner Mar 20, 2013 at 10:44 AM

I found the hotel by googling it and then getting a map online. I am sure that our tour guide will be helpful, but remember that is why this trip is "moderately challenging." I took the Independent Paris trip and we did went to several sites on the Metro. However, since I once lived in NYC I am used to subway travel. As I recall, the walking wasn't so bad on the Paris trip.
Rose Arnold Mar 20, 2013 at 03:10 PM

Thanks. I don't mind walking alot but don't like long walks from hotel to metro and metro to hotel. Want to do all my walking at the sights. One reason I asked the question is that when I googled the hotel and read reviews, a number of people said it was rather inconvenient getting from the hotel to the majority of sights in London. I would love to know the distance from hotel to metro in blocks and if its then a straight shot to the west end and various sights. I also talk the Paris independent and really enjoyed it. At the time, our hotel was only a block or block and a half to the metro and we found it very easy to get all around the city by metro.

Hi, Anyone familiar with the location of the Tower Hotel? Great for the tower but sounds as if it is some distance from the West End and sightseeing by the underground but the trip from the hotel to to other sights seems to involve a couple of underground transfers and a good deal of walking. A bit of a convoluted, inconvenient trip. I don't know London. Am I wrong about this?
