Road Scholar has thousands of educational adventures to choose from. A good way to narrow down our list is to browse our collection of "Most Popular" programs.
See all of our Most Popular programs.
While all of our learning adventures offer extraordinary value, our "Best Value" programs were rated by our participants themselves who thought their dollar went particularly far.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Any suggestions on brands of walking sticks? We will be flying to Phoenix, so would need something that would collapse to fit in luggage.

My husband and I are going on this trip on August 18 and would love to hear from others on that trip. Neither of us has ever been to the Grand Canyon and we are really excited about the trip.
Donna Callahan Jun 14, 2013 at 10:22 AM

I'm thinking about this trip also. Who knows how "hot" it will be in August?
Ellen Feliciano Jun 14, 2013 at 03:22 PM

We got a guide from Road Scholar for the trip, and the weather info says for August the high/lows are:

Phoenix 102/75, Grand Canyon South Rim 82/53, Grand Canyon North Rim 74/45 I did read somewhere else that it can be about 17 degrees warmer on the canyon floor, but we don't expect to be there. And we are not spending any extra time in Scottsdale either. Road Scholar suggests a wide brimmed hat.

I just returned from the North and South Rims. This is a fabulous trip. Our guide Stewart was an incredible source of information! I learned so much. And our group was terrific. I went by myself, but definitely felt part of the group. And the North Rim is so different from the South Rim that I'm glad I chose a trip that included both.

Janet Conrad May 27, 2013 at 09:56 PM

I'm planning on going on the June 9th trip to the North and South rims.
Joanna Clancy May 28, 2013 at 02:25 PM

See you there, Janet!

I'm planning on going by myself in September. I'm thinking the crowds will be gone then. Anyone else have plans to go this Fall?

I will be doing this trip in May and would be interested in hearing from others.

Joanna Clancy May 10, 2013 at 03:10 PM

I'll be participating in this trip. Anyone else coming at this time?
