Hi folks,
Who is joining me on the June 9-26 trip? I look forward to hearing from you.
Arleda Watson May 08, 2013 at 02:31 AM

I am, Anita. I'm coming from Honolulu and spending lots of time getting fit enough for the Tiger's Nest--I hope.
Anita Miller May 12, 2013 at 11:24 PM

Great, Arleda. I look forward to meeting you. I've been getting in shape for those hikes, too. We'll see how well we did when we get there.

4/8/13 I received a request from Isobel Storch for Info, but can't find your comment hsre so I can't reply directly to you. It is warm, but take layers. Really didn't need a heavy jacket, but had 3 layers. I took hiking shoes, not ankel high, and was glad that I had them. But I knee problems. Some locals were in flip flops. I prefer to safe rather than sorry. I am a hiker and think that good foot wear is the most inportant piece of equipment. I also had poles and was glad. Marilynn

I posted messages early so they are at the bottom of the comments from those on the April list. Since Road Scholar will not give us a list of participants, I am just asking if anyone is going on the May trip. I will be leaving on Delta from L.A. and getting into Bangkok at midnight. I will be staying at the airport Novotel hotel because of the late hour. Would so appreciate hearing from anyone.

Leonard Behr Mar 12, 2013 at 10:43 AM

Does anyone on the April 14 trip know anything about Bob Cleary? I see his name posted on this bulletin board but he hasn't written anything there so far.

Leonard Behr Mar 12, 2013 at 07:25 AM

Hi Fran - my wife and I are also on this trip and will be on the same flight. We've been conversing by regular e-mail with Isobel and Barbara. My address follows if you want to get in touch vi direct e-mail. lenbehr@verizon.net
Isobel Storch Mar 13, 2013 at 01:27 AM

Apparently there are two Barbara¿s on this trip. So far it seems there are five us on the Cathay Pacific flight,, with Barbara Burns on a different one to Bangkok.
barbara burns Mar 19, 2013 at 05:32 PM

Isobel, Where did you see another person, Barbara, listed? See below - I have been wondering if a participant list is accessible for this group.

Fran MacPherson Mar 12, 2013 at 12:29 AM

Fran Macpherson
Am leaving on Cathay Pacific 883 around midnight (!) April 14 from LA/Hong Kong/Bankok
I arrive in LA from Seattle around 8.30pm and will also be spending the time in the airport - so maybe ISOBEL STORCH if you are not going sight-seeing (?) we could try and meet up in the airport for dinner ? or drink or something.
I guess I'll be wearing my boots, as I dont really want to have to pack them - better remember my shoehorn
Isobel Storch Mar 12, 2013 at 12:47 AM

Hello, Fran. I arrive very early in the morning and am planning some sightseeing during the day with Len and Claire. I imagine we will all be wiped out by evening and should be back at the airport by early evening so would love to connect before our flight. We have to check in at least two hours early anyway, right? So email me with your contact information and I'll be in touch. Isobel148@gmail.com

Marilynn Miciek Mar 11, 2013 at 06:39 PM

I am on the March 18-April 4 trip. I will be arriving 11:45 PM and will have the 19th to sightsee before the evening dinner. Anyone getting in around that time or early morning.
Isobel Storch Apr 08, 2013 at 03:48 PM

Hello, Marilyn. I
Isobel Storch Apr 08, 2013 at 03:56 PM

Hello, Marilyn. I see you just returned and I am leaving Sunday for the April trip so have a few questions if you don¿t mind answering. The weather seems to be considerably warmer tthan predicted. Whatt type of jacket attire would you recommend? Also does one need hiking boots for the treks or would less heavy duty walking shoes suffice? I am planning to pack all into one carryon so the less bulky stuff I have to bring the better. Your thoughts would be most appreciated .
Joan Hellmann Apr 08, 2013 at 06:59 PM

I second Marilyn's comments about layers, decent hiking shoes (you can wear them on the way) and walking poles.
