14 Days | 13 Nights
Road Scholar has thousands of educational adventures to choose from. A good way to narrow down our list is to browse our collection of "Most Popular" programs.
See all of our Most Popular programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Hi Amy, I am going on the same trip that interests you, but my trip will be in May. I have been told by the folks at Road Scholar that the groups are welcoming and inclusive,of people like me,who wil be traveling solo. I have done much traveling but never to this part of Italy, and never on a tour where I know no one else (at least, not yet). I am glad I will be with lots of new people, but also will have a room of my own . While I hope to connect with at least one other person before the trip, I suspect it will be pretty easy to meet others once we all gather. I hope that you make some connections before you travel and that you have a great time. Laura Reiter

Hi. My name is Amy. I am interested in the Amalfi coast trip in October and would like to know about single people who are traveling in their 50's and 60's. Please let me know.
Donna Callahan Mar 14, 2014 at 05:28 PM

I fit your description but I went last October. Only one response for you: "GO!" It is so easy and so comfortable to travel with Road Scholar; their programs are well-adapted for the single traveler. Everyone is accepted and included. I hope you have as good a time as I did!!

Hi, I'm a woman traveling solo, considering the Sept 30 or Oct 14, 2014 Amalfi/Sorrento trips. Haven't been on a Road Scholar trip before. Would appreciate opinions on pros/cons of single room vs. finding a roommate. Anybody looking for a roommate for either date? Thanks!
Pat Saviano Feb 22, 2014 at 03:39 PM

I went last May as a solo and really liked having my own room. There were 2 other single women, one of whom I would NOT have wanted as a roommate. It was also my first Road Scholar trip and I enjoyed being able to have some quiet time. The days are really jam packed with group activities and I enjoyed being able to chill by myself.

BTW, you'll LOVE the program. Jan is wonderful and a wealth of knowledge.

oops--I meant May 20 to June 1. Laura Reiter

Is there anyone else from CT going on the Amalfi Coast/Sorrento trip on June 20-July 1, flying out of Boston? Aside from my interest in possibly traveling with others either to Logan Airport, or to the Logan Express, I'm curious about other Nutmeggers who might be going when I am. Laura Reiter

Laura Reiter Feb 13, 2014 at 12:50 PM

From Boston to Amalfi Coast/Sorrento trip. Will be traveling from CT(vic. Univ of CT) to Logan Express (Framingham, MA) to get to Logan for the May 20-June 1 trip. Anyone else using Logan Express on those dates and interested in sharing the drive and expense of leaving the car in their lot?

I am really interested in the May 6 to May 18th trip. But there are no singles left. I like that date because I can then follow it with Cooking in Tuscany. Any single females interested in those dates and this trip?
