Alice Van Deusen Sep 04, 2015 at 07:43 AM

Fred and Alice are going on September 15 as well! Where are you folks from?
Steve Reagan Sep 04, 2015 at 08:46 AM

We are from Oklahoma. And You? We have begun the pre-packing! Have been watching the weather forecast and the low to mid 60's look great.
Alice Van Deusen Sep 04, 2015 at 01:36 PM

We are from the Boston area. That weather sounds perfect. I am into making lists and Fred is into checking his camera. We are both excited and looking forward to this trip!

Curious as to who is participating in the Sept 1st trip!
Sharon Michaels Apr 14, 2015 at 11:15 PM

Hi Karen-
Sharon Michaels Apr 14, 2015 at 11:16 PM

My husband and I will be on the Sept. 1st program. Have you been on other Road Scholar programs?
Karen M Apr 14, 2015 at 11:23 PM

Hi Sharon! Yes, this will be my fifth RS trip. I have taken three by myself (Big Bend Nat'l Park, Ozarks, Lafayette, LA/Habitat service trip. My husband is doing his first trip with me in about a week...Lewis & Clark trip in MO...
Sharon Michaels Apr 15, 2015 at 02:06 PM

Nice to chat with a fellow RS traveler. We're really looking forward to this trip. We've done 7 other RS trips: 3 hiking (Canadian Rockies, Zion & Brice Nat'l Parks and Death Valley) and 4 exploring (NY city, Chicago, Santa Fe, N.M., and Costa Rica.) This will be my 1st visit to the UK. We fly out of San Francisco. How about you?

Same to you, Sharon :). I am so excited about this trip as well! It is even on my "list of life things to do". I will be flying out of DFW (Dallas, TX). Your RS trips sound wonderful. I especially love the hiking trips. I have Zion, Bryce, Canyonlands trip on my wish list....maybe next year! I also want to do the Grand Canyon Rim to River some day.

Recent participants: Any comments about the meat vs vegetarian meal option?
Linda Long Oct 10, 2014 at 02:16 PM

I picked the vegetarian option for one meal in Cornwall and it was too spicy for my taste. I designated meat in my paper work and that seemed like a good choice. Enjoy this fantastic trip!

Teddy Wright Sep 14, 2014 at 04:50 PM

Looking at the June 9-22 trip next year. It says to bring walking shoes and equipment. Then it says See packing list. So far, I haven't found the packing list. Anyone know where it is? Anyone else looking at that trip?
Gail Binder Sep 17, 2014 at 08:51 PM

Teddy, Packing list will be in the info you receive closer to departure. Hiking poles were really helpful and good sturdy hiking shoes.... don't need to be above ankle. It's a great trip.
Teddy Wright Sep 17, 2014 at 08:55 PM

Thanks so much! Must figure out a way to take my sticks. Even though they do telescope, they won't fit in my suitcase.

John Benham Aug 09, 2014 at 09:54 AM

Going on the Sept.16th program, when it says walk 6 miles does that mean round trip, to next town and back? Looking forward to meeting everyone!
Steve Reagan Jun 19, 2015 at 11:53 AM

My husband and I are going on the Sept 16 also. We fly Dallas to Heathrow. Taking our trekking poles and trying to decide which bag to buy as I had read that they were not allowed as carry-on. Checking into that further. We travel light so hate to buy those big bags. Plus staying in London a couple of days at the end.
