HI, Is anyone making the May 9-29 trip from New York or the surrounding area? I'm traveling alone; have made independent air line, but will enjoy meeting others while traveling. Feel free to drop a note if you want to chat a bit about the trip.

Hello, Looking forward to this trip. I've been reading Peter Hessler's books and they have been great background. He also has an article in recent National Geographic. New to Road Scholar, hoping for the best. My husband and I live in DC if there is anyone nearby? No Visa yet, sent in two weeks ago. Nancy Donnelly

I can't find any books by Paul Hessler. Would you provide a title please? We're from West Coast; leaving from SFO...anyone else
Jeanine Schmidt Apr 02, 2013 at 01:50 PM

Found it...Peter; not Paul

Sorry about that, liked Country Driving and Oracle Bones. Traveler friend just gave me Wild Swans, by Jung Chang.

Are there any travelers planning to arrive in Beijing before the tour starts? I will be there on April 2nd and would like to meet up with early arrivals. I will be staying at the tour hotel so it would be easy to get in contact. Visa and passport arrived yesterday. Looking forward to this adventure. BILL STENGLE

For anyone who has sent in for their China Visa...I just received an email from them. The forms we initially received indicated it was $388 for 2 people. It changed at some point and it now $402...which holds up the process I'm sure. So, just be aware of that. I think I got this info from Road Scholar in the packet?

David Arneson Feb 26, 2013 at 05:17 PM

Is anyone going on the trip Oct 10-30 that is interested in a side trip to Hong Kong with two couples? Road Scholar use to have this as add on.

John Carragher Feb 23, 2013 at 09:08 AM

my doctor started hepa/hepb vaccine shots. He suggested we may need other shots not covered by medicare. he suggested finding exact locations we are going to and look up in www.cdc.gov for latest travel health info. He started my shots immediately because there are a series of three shots over six months. does road scholar have a list of recommended shots for travel to china?

Jeanine Schmidt Jan 14, 2013 at 05:55 PM

Has anyone received their Travel Visa application yet? I just sent thru a request about it.

Vicky Guertin Jan 08, 2013 at 01:55 PM

Will Road Scholar respond to the question regarding the hotel in Tibet?
