i went to Army Surplus today & got DEET @ 35%. Better than any commercial stuff I could find. I react really badly to deer fly bites, and am concerned about the tse tse flies.

I'm going on the June 4 to June 18, 2013 trip. Would love to connect with anyone else who will be on that trip.
J. T. Anderson Apr 29, 2013 at 04:41 PM

Hi Judith, I will be going June 4. Just saw my doctor today in preparation. Researching insect repellent. I've been to Africa two times A very special place. Can't wait for this trip.
Janet MacDonald Apr 29, 2013 at 08:28 PM

Hi J.T....you're an experienced 'safari-er'! If you had but one choice, which of the RoadScholar trips would you take, the one to Kenya/Tanzania or the Botswana "Wild Africa" trip? I can't make up my mind and I'd appreciate your input!

J. T. Anderson Apr 27, 2013 at 05:13 PM

Anyone from the Los Angeles area on the Tanzania/Kenya trip, #18783RJ, June 4?

Janet MacDonald Apr 08, 2013 at 01:03 PM

Has anyone taken both this trip and the one to Botswana? I would love to chat with you on this board.

Beth Jones Apr 08, 2013 at 11:38 AM

Hello, I just put down a deposit on the July 9th 2013 trip and snagged the last spot. Im so excited! Wondering who else will be on this trip? Apparently there will be 21 of us. Perhaps someone else is looking for a roommate? I am an active 58 year old female, non smoker, quiet sleeper. Looking for same. Sandra and Marjorie, did you two decide to be roommates?
Janet MacDonald Apr 08, 2013 at 01:01 PM

Just a question: why did you choose this trip over the Botswana trip? I have no idea which one to take!
Beth Jones Apr 08, 2013 at 06:50 PM

I don't know either, and frankly, I have until tomorrow at 6 pm to change my mind and get my $250 deposit back. The botswana "wild africa" trip requires two people. You can't be a single and ask them to assign you a roommate (see program notes). I think there's one double left on that one. I looked at all the photos on this one and the accomodations did look nice. The other is a bit more expensive. With the other you get to see Victoria Falls? Which is worth more money. This one says it takes you off the beaten path. Goodness, it's impossible to know. They've got to both be fabulous. Email me your phone number on the discussion board if you want to talk about it, while I can still adjust my plans.
Beth Jones Apr 08, 2013 at 06:51 PM

Oh nevermind. You are going with your husband. I'll stick with this one, then.

Patricia Fahey Mar 09, 2013 at 01:35 PM

I'm interested in talking to anyone who is taking the Classic East Africa Safari on Sept 18,2013.....would love to meet you via this Discussion Board.

Going on Kenya and Tanzania, Classic East Africa Safari on Sept 10, 2013 with wife. Pat, are you on the same safari, your date is different?

Sandra Moulton Oct 24, 2012 at 03:59 PM

I signed up for the July 9 -22nd Classical Kenya/Tanzania east Africa Tour .. anyone else going .. interested in a roommate? Female age 61 ..active traveler
Marjorie Mountainsong Oct 29, 2012 at 11:18 PM

I am not signed up for this trip but am eyeing it with great interest. I am 70, active, non-smoker, love to travel and potentially looking for a roommate who does not snore. (I have a great travel partner but her snoring leaves me sleep deprived.) Perhaps we can exchange information.
Sandra Moulton Oct 30, 2012 at 06:07 PM

Hi Marjorie .. are you on facebook? That would be an easy way to see what each of us are up to
Sandra Moulton Oct 30, 2012 at 06:08 PM

Ps I don't snore I leave that for my husband

Janet MacDonald Oct 20, 2012 at 07:28 AM

My husband and I are interested in a safari trip but there are several of them from which to select. We will probably make only one trip to Africa in our lifetime (so many places, so little time!) so we would like to take the "right" trip. We're not interested in cities & shopping but rather in the nature & culture. Any suggestions?
