Road Scholar has thousands of educational adventures to choose from. A good way to narrow down our list is to browse our collection of "Most Popular" programs.
See all of our Most Popular programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

We have not been to Prague since 9/2002 which was after a flood. The Jewish quarter was still partially closed off and the metros were not running. Budapest is now having floods. I hope that there is not much damage .

I am wondering if it's advisable to purchase the foreign currency stateside before departing. If so how much? Has anyone ever used forex to purchase currencies?
Helen Sternheim May 31, 2013 at 04:36 PM

I have purchased foreign money from my bank. AAA also does some countires money.
John Schwartz Jun 10, 2013 at 11:50 AM

I always just use the ATMs once I arrive. I usually have leftover euros from my previous trip just in case there is no ATM at the airport.

Morey Ronson May 29, 2013 at 08:40 PM

I just signed up for this, my first Road Scholar tour. I would like to know if anyone has some ideas for tours in or near the cities when we "are free to explore on our own" -- day 3 (in Warsaw), day 6 (in Krakow), and day 11 (in Budapest). Also, I will be staying in Prague for a few days after the tour ends, and would like to hear comments from you about day-trips to locations near Prague. Also, I need advice on how to find a room-mate for the tour -- my wife isn't interested in staying away from our business for that long. I will be travelling from Kansas City with connections in Chicago.
Albert Rabinovitch May 29, 2013 at 10:02 PM

We're arriving in Warsaw a couple of days before the tour starts, then leaving Prague on the day the tour ends. Since we're a couple, I can't help you with room-mates. Doesn't Road Scholar offer a matching service? As for unscheduled time, we'll just wing it.

Albert Rabinovitch Apr 08, 2013 at 09:34 PM

We just signed up for this tour.

John Simpson Mar 23, 2013 at 04:15 PM

John & Kathleen Simpson - Florida, will be arriving two days before and departing two after the tour.

Helene Terris Mar 14, 2013 at 08:20 PM

We're going a day early from Los Angeles. Is anyone else going then?
Marc Posner Apr 21, 2013 at 03:11 PM

Marc & Ann Posner will be arriving a day early and staying in the designated hotel. We are flying in from Charlotte via Frankfort Germany.

Arlene Rosenblatt Sep 12, 2012 at 08:23 PM

Is anybody staying a few days after the tour ends and want to travel with us?
Mel Cooper Sep 13, 2012 at 07:49 AM

I am staying in Prague an extra night before flying on to Athens....don't leave until early evening on Sunday. Will be looking at options for in and around Prague not covered by tour.

Mel Cooper Aug 30, 2012 at 02:32 PM

I will be Berlin the week before the tour begins. Still working out details but plan to go to opera and mueums..my first time there.
Arlene Rosenblatt Aug 30, 2012 at 03:02 PM

Hi Mel
Arlene Rosenblatt Aug 30, 2012 at 03:04 PM

We will be touring in Austria and will find train, plane, or bus transportation to get us to Warsaw on Friday, the 19th.
