Road Scholar
Program #3045RJ
17 Days | 16 Nights
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

My wife, sister and I will be in this program and I learned that there will be a Bull Fight in Seville on our last day, April 18 at 16:30. Per the internet, the Plaza de Toros is an 8 minute walk from the Hotel Inglaterra where we will all stay. Anyoine interested in joining me for the Bullfight. Perhaps our guide in Seville can get tickets and recommend where we sit. Lionel

I plan to arrive in Madrid April 7 at 8:20 am from Philadelphia (US Airways)to begin this program. I understand that the group transfer will take place at 8 am, meaning anyone arriving later will be on their own to get into Madrid and to the hotel. Let me know if you would be interested in sharing a taxi.

Carol Jacobs Oct 09, 2014 at 12:41 PM

Nice to hear from you both. We will be staying one extra night in Madrid at the end of the tour, since it didn't work to fly home from Seville. Forgot to mention that we are from a suburb west of Cleveland, OH.

Bill and Carol Jacobs will be on the trip to Spain leaving 10/20/2014. This is our first Road Scholar tour and our first trip to Spain, though we have been to many other European countries. Who else is going??

Hi Bill and Carol,
Carol McIntyre Oct 08, 2014 at 05:44 PM

I will be on the Oct 20 trip coming from Vancouver BC< Canada. Look forward to meeting you both. Are you staying on in Spain after the tour? Carol McIntyre

2 Carols already, must be nearly Christmas! Looking forward to meeting you all. I'm from Toronto, but have family in B.C., Victoria and Nanaimo.

George Thomas Sep 08, 2014 at 10:58 AM

Sally and George Thomas will be on the Sept. 22-Oct. 5 trip and looking forward to meeting others. We're flying from Charlottesville, VA, to Madrid via Atlanta (rather than from Dulles as I earlier said).

This is my first Road Scholar adventure. I chose it because of the Alhambra visit. There's a story here but maybe I'll save it for the others on the Oct 20 trip!

This is a great program. There are scheduled walks at many of the sites visited. Our photos are at: http://umassk12.net/photo/utahweb/

I will be going on the Oct. 20, 2014 trip from Vancouver, Canada. I'm travelling alone and will be in Munich for a few days before arriving in Madrid. I am also planning to stay on in Spain for a while at the end. I wonder if anyone else traveling alone might be doing the same and would want to visit the White Hill towns in Andalucia. Renting a car is the way to go, but not practical for one person for many reasons. I am fit and active as I think these towns demand that. If you will be on the same trip as me and would consider staying on and sharing a car, let me know through this process and maybe we can discuss if this would work for us both. Thanks.

Bridget Hough Aug 07, 2014 at 01:10 PM

Hi Carol. I"m flying from Toronto via Frankfurt, and will be alone, but not planning on spending any additional time in Europe. Nice to know there's another single, I am just getting used to being a widow.

Michael McGrane Jun 03, 2014 at 11:33 PM

Jan & Michael McGrane will be on the Sept. 22 - Oct 5 2014 trip from New Jersey. This will be our 5th RS trip - Alaska, New Mexico, Quebec, and in March 2014 - Discovering Wines & Traditions of Argentina and Chile. Two couples on the Argentina/Chile trip had been on Pathways of Culture in September 2013 and raved about it. That is why we signed up.
Jackie Travis Jul 16, 2014 at 07:49 PM

Jackie and Mike Travis will also be on this trip and flying out of JFK on Iberia. We'll look for RS tags in the waiting area.
