Thanks for the info.

Hi Leah -- My wife Libby and I also are on the Feb 11-26 South African trip. We are arriving early, but will be spending the extra time in Cape Town. We wanted to make sure we were able to tour Robben Island. We will be arriving in J'burg the afternoon of Feb 12, then connecting with the group at Melrose Place. Look forward to meeting you and the group.

Am going on the Feb. 11-26 program and will arrive early in Johannesburg. Is anyone else going to be there early?
John (Jack) Roberts Jan 04, 2016 at 12:27 PM

Hi Leah,
John (Jack) Roberts Jan 04, 2016 at 12:39 PM

The J'Burg Airport was a little unsettling for us; our arrival was not met by the stated driver and we found ourselves waiting at the front information wondering how to proceed. Fortunately, an individual at the counter asked if we were the Roberts and informed that he had just completed a cell phone call with the absent driver and he would take us to the Melrose Place Guest Lodge. Turns out the lodge is a good 45 min drive from the airport and we would have spent a considerable amount of time and SA $ trying to get there by taxi. The program is exceptional in every regard, especially if you have Helen Malisan as your group leader. She is a JEWEL!

Hola, Road Scholar Enthusiasts: My wife and I are enrolled in this South African adventure beginning 22 October. We are excited about visiting this, our seventh, continent and would appreciate any important information our travel companions are interested in sharing. For instance, Stellenbosch has several fine wineries including on owned by Ernie Els, the professional golfer.

Greetings to March 12, 2015 participants: Barbara & Jerry Hoganson are joining the South Africa tour and would like to hear from any fellow participants. We live in northern Virginia & enjoy summers in northern Michigan.

Hi folks,
It's Betty Sanders again. I'm going a day early - leaving Atlanta on Thurs Sept 25, arriving J-burg Fri Sept 26. Any one else going early?

Elizabeth Grey Aug 27, 2014 at 10:39 AM

My name posts as Elizabeth Grey. I'm actually Betty Sanders & would enjoy hearing from others on the Sept 26 trip & Victoria Falls extension & others who've taken these trips before.
Patricia Jones Aug 27, 2014 at 06:02 PM

Hi, Betty and others...My husband Ralph and I will be on the same trip. We have never been disappointed after at least eight international Road Scholar trips and I hope you will love it too. Do you have any books or movies to recommend before we go? I love to read fiction and non-fiction related to our destinations. We live near Rochester, NY.
Elizabeth Grey Sep 11, 2014 at 06:51 PM

Hi Patricia; looking forward to meeting you & Ralph. Only 2 weeks to go!

Elizabeth Grey Aug 27, 2014 at 10:35 AM

I'd like to hear from others on this trip & the Victoria Falls extension. I'm travelling by myself & really looking forward to meeting others through this site.
