I am looking to connect with other participants from the Galapagos Island trip on August 17. My husband, Don and I are anxious to get to know you!
Roger Hinkle Jul 24, 2014 at 10:02 PM

Hi Janie, we're doing this trip along with the Ecuador extension to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We're flying from Phoenix to Miami, and then an early evening flight to Quito. Perhaps we'll meet you and Don at the Miami airport.

Another question- does the Galaven provide bio-degradable soap & shampoo in the cabins? Or should we bring our own?
Roger Hinkle Jul 21, 2014 at 10:36 AM

Just found the answer to my question. I should have read the tour info more closely...
Janet Markham Jul 24, 2014 at 09:34 PM

There is liquid body soap and shampoo in a shower dispenser. We were also given 1 bar of soap for the sink. There's no hair conditioner, in case you want to bring that.

Roger Hinkle Jul 15, 2014 at 04:12 PM

My wife Maggie and I are on the August 17 tour to the Galapagos. I've read where you pay US $$ cash for drinks on the Galaven. My question is- do you pay cash each time; or can you run a tab and pay cash total to the Galaven on the last day?

Thanks for any suggestions!

Hi Roger,
Stephanie Shelley Jul 15, 2014 at 07:27 PM

You run up a tab and pay the last night onboard. For all you chocoholics - there is a jar of oreo cookies next to the coffee machine! Not being tea or coffee drinkers, we never knew this until the last night.
Roger Hinkle Jul 15, 2014 at 07:37 PM

Thanks for the info, Stephanie,
Roger Hinkle Jul 15, 2014 at 07:39 PM

Stephanie, that's what I figured- but it's good to know in advance. We'll make good use of that coffee machine, but will let everyone else finish off the oreos. Roger

Thanks so much Sandy.

Sandy Smith Jun 25, 2014 at 02:51 PM

I have enrolled for the Jan. 25 program. Anyone else on this trip?

Julianne Seeman Jun 15, 2014 at 06:04 PM

what were the highlights of the trip for you? Any suggestions to make it a good experience - gear? clothes?

Thanks so much
JA
Janet Markham Jun 16, 2014 at 11:53 AM

Things we were glad we had: ear plugs, hat with brim, sunscreen, a lightweight raincoat, shoes and socks that are comfortable hiking in when wet, cash for the bar if you want something to drink other than juice, water, or coffee/tea; a couple of long sleeve lightweight shirts, binoculars, cheap water shoes are fine if needed at all (as long as you have other good walking shoes), small backpack. Snorkeling gear and wetsuits on board were excellent. Good walking sticks onboard, but not enough for all everytime.

Julianne Seeman Jun 15, 2014 at 01:42 PM

I am going on the August 17 trip. Would love to connect wth others on that trip.

Are you takkng a wet suit for snorkeling?
Linda Schwartz Jun 15, 2014 at 04:51 PM

On our trip, the boat, the Galvin, had wet suits..

Susan Berger May 21, 2014 at 04:25 PM

It's month's away, but my husband and I just booked the March 2015 trip. Coming from Philadelphia area. Excited!
