Is anyone else planning to stay overnight near Logan Airport on Saturday, Feb 27th in order to leave early on the 28th?

Gail Gurin Feb 05, 2016 at 04:12 PM

I returned to VA Feb. 1st following 9 wonderful days in CR. No problem with insects. Good idea to take long pants & jacket/sweater for cool evenings. Pura vida!

Hi Harold, my husband, David, and I are on the same trip and will be on a flight from Atlanta arriving San Jose at 1pm. Looking forward to meeting you and Jan!

Harold Babbit Feb 05, 2016 at 10:15 AM

My wife, Jan, and I are going on this trip on Feb. 13, flying from Cleveland and arriving San Jose at 2:05 p. m. on United 1098 from Houston. Anyone else on that trip and/or flight?

Deb Wentworth Jan 31, 2016 at 08:16 AM

I returned from this trip last week. Screens were on the windows of the most rustic of the hotels. I never felt any mosquitoes - did see some impressive spiders and ants, though! Enjoy your trip!
Stanley Shulman Jan 31, 2016 at 03:32 PM

Thank you!

Patricia Kipps Jan 31, 2016 at 06:23 AM

We went the first week of Feb last year and had NO problem with insects of any kind. Many meals are outdoors in open areas - no pests of any kind. Don't remember any problem at hotels. I think we didn't generally open our windows at night, there was no need, but I don't think it would have mattered. Never saw any flying insects the whole trip.

Do those who have done this trip recall whether all hotel rooms have screens?

I believe they all did, but some bugs always get through.

Anybody else worried about the Zike virus?
Thomas Bruno Jan 28, 2016 at 06:07 PM

Regarding the Zeka virus, Health officials say the number of U.S. residents diagnosed with Zika infections in the past year has grown to 31. That's in a nation of 330 million.
Thomas Bruno Jan 28, 2016 at 06:09 PM

Further, US health officials stated the vast majority of those who are exposed to the virus never get sick. I would be more worried of the risk of accidental injury driving to the airport.
Christine Root Jan 29, 2016 at 04:23 PM

You would be right if I was only worried about me but the spread to my 9 month old grandson is of concern.
Alison Bell Jan 30, 2016 at 07:00 PM

If your grandson is not with you, I don't think you have anything to worry about. If he's not with you, the only way you could transmit it to him is: if you were sick with the virus, a mosquito bit you and became infected and then the same mosquto bit him. I think the biggest danger is for unborn children. So I'm not too worried. I'll be taking plenty of mosquito repellant though!
