Program #16434RJ
28 Days | 27 Nights
Road Scholar has thousands of educational adventures to choose from. A good way to narrow down our list is to browse our collection of "Most Popular" programs.
See all of our Most Popular programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Just came back from Australia NZ. Don't pack too much! Definitely sunglasses. Feeding Roos, seeing opera house, Mauri in NZ, Uluru in Aus. Reef, volcanoes, court house, penguins on walk back! Keep schedules for memories. First RS. Enjoyed. Worth it allM
JANET S REED Oct 22, 2014 at 04:48 PM

What would you say was the longest and/or most difficult walk on the trip? I generally have no trouble walking but someone suggested walking poles. I don't want to haul stuff I don't need.

Anne Napier Oct 09, 2014 at 09:07 AM

Watched Rabbit Proof Fence again last night . very interesting about Western Australia.

Anne Napier Oct 03, 2014 at 09:09 AM

Hi folks . Am a brand new RS traveler and am traveling alone. Any suggestions?. Do we know how many are in our group? Getting excited and thinking new thoughts every day!!!
Anne Napier Oct 04, 2014 at 10:07 AM

RS told me there are 28 in our group.
Barbara Oct 05, 2014 at 01:30 AM

I am also traveling alone on this trip. Are there 28 on both parts of the trip?
Anne Napier Oct 05, 2014 at 08:46 AM

Not sure about that.
JANET S REED Oct 06, 2014 at 05:37 PM

I'd love to do the Sydney Bridge climb and hope we can get a group together to do it.

Noreen McAuley Sep 19, 2014 at 03:14 PM

Fred and I are planning to walk the Sydney Bridge, preferably at night. Anyone else on the October/November trip planning to do it?
Rob Stohlman Sep 19, 2014 at 06:56 PM

This is one of two things I have on my list for Sydney. The other is a ghost tour around the rocks and to the island holding convicts. My wife took the tour when she was in Sydney and recommends it.
David Berkenbilt Sep 20, 2014 at 12:47 AM

Sounds good. Let's talk when we meet in October!

Money belts are essential if you carry a lot of cash. We prefer using an ATM card when we travel. We have set up a separate "travel account" that is accessed by this card and is not connected to any other account that we have.

I too traveled using ATM. About a week before the end both my cards were frozen by bank for unknown reason. They knew dates I was overseas. When I came home it was a $10 payment!! Lesson learned, don't have both cards from same bank! Ps I'm changing banks!

Edgar Bixby Sep 17, 2014 at 05:10 PM

What is the best way to carry money into NZ and Australia?

Andrea Stone Sep 13, 2014 at 02:25 AM

Janet- I'm reading A Town Like Alice and it's a good read so far. Only $2.99 on Kindle. Thanks for the tip. I'll look for the PBS show through Amazon, too.
JANET S REED Sep 15, 2014 at 01:09 PM

I couldn't find any video anywhere for A Town Like Alice ...
