Joe, My husband and I will be heading to NZ from Tennessee but leaving here on 5th to LA to Sydney for a long weekend before Queenstown and the group.
Maude Buszek Jan 25, 2014 at 02:11 PM

Let me know what your favorite part of the trip is!
Maude Buszek Jan 25, 2014 at 02:34 PM

Just had a thought! If Robbie is your bus driver on the South Island, would you please tell him Maude and DEBBIE SAY HELLO

Hi All. I've just discovered how to do this. Anyone from the Northeast going? I'm leaving from Boston on the 9th and overnighting at LA. Joe
Maude Buszek Jan 24, 2014 at 05:07 PM

Hi Joe, I went on this trip last fall. It was combined with the Walking Green people, as enrollment was light on both trips, otherwise it would have been cancelled. You are going to LOVE New Zealand! It is truly beautiful! The program changed quite a bit, maybe becAuse the two trips were combined. It was still lots of fun and a really wonderful group. There is more bus time than hiking time, but you're seeing quite a bit of country. New Zealand has become more international in its cuisine, and our guides liked the variety"

Sorry, I hit the wrong key. From the above, I would have personally preferred more radio all NZ cuisine, but we did have a variety. You will enjoy the hikes. Hope you have a wonderful time! Send me a post card ;)

Anyone planning on going whale watching? Let me know at maudebuszek@gmail.com
Debbie Williams Oct 11, 2013 at 03:49 PM

I'd like too...any idea on the cost?
Maude Buszek Oct 11, 2013 at 05:42 PM

It was suggested on Nov 7th during our free morning. Cost is $145 NZ, with 89% refund if they don't spot whales. I would suggest the 7:15 am tour, so we can meet back for lunch. Since it is spring there, they strongly suggest reservations, which I'm willing to do immediately. Web site is www.whalewatch.con.nz if you'd like to check out their website.
Maude Buszek Oct 11, 2013 at 05:43 PM

Oops! Refund is 80 %.
Debbie Williams Oct 18, 2013 at 12:05 PM

Where will our hotel be in relation to where the whale watch boat leaves from? Hopefully there will be time for breakfast at our place of lodging before we head out. Is the web site you gave me correct? .coN instead of .coM? Thanks!
Maude Buszek Oct 18, 2013 at 06:34 PM

Sorry, I'm the world's worst typist! Website is www.whalewatch.co.nz . Unsure how far it is to the place from where we are staying. Something we can ask when we all get down there? Where are you coming from? I'm from Michigan.
Maude Buszek Oct 19, 2013 at 02:58 PM

Hi Debbie, wanted to let you know I've contacted our group leaders to see if we can get transportation to and from the whale watching.
Maude Buszek Oct 19, 2013 at 06:54 PM

Hi Debbie, got an email from John. They will make the reservations for us once they know how many want to go. Our hotel is a five minute walk away, but the whale watch tour picks us up and delivers us back.

Debbie Williams Oct 21, 2013 at 11:43 AM

Count me in...I definitely want to see whales. I, too, am from Michigan....Mason, just a few miles south of Lansing.
Maude Buszek Oct 21, 2013 at 04:52 PM

Cool! Perhaps we'll visit after the trip. Are you flying from DTW at 1:30 on 10/28. If so, maybe we can do some walking together around LAX for the "mere" six hours layover!
Debbie Williams Oct 26, 2013 at 10:27 AM

I'm leaving from Lansing, then on to MSP, finally LAX; I'm sure I will see you and others from our group in the waiting area (or walking before the long flight) for our NZ flight.
