Program Registration: 3:30-4:30 p.m. After you have your room assignment, come over to the Road Scholar table (located either in the hallway in front of the Road Scholar meeting room or just inside the meeting room) and pick up your welcome packet containing your name-tag, up-to-date schedule, and other important information we will review during Orientation, and to confirm the time and location of the Orientation session. If you arrive late, please ask for your packet at the front desk when you check in.
Orientation: 4:30 p.m. The Group Leader will greet you with a warm welcome and introduce everyone. We will review the up-to-date daily program schedule and any changes, discuss responsibilities, safety guidelines, emergency procedures, and answer any questions you may have.
During free time, the Group Leader will be available to guide informal excursions, activities, or meals not included in the program. You are welcome to join if you wish, with any associated costs (if any) on your own, or explore independently.

Menus are contracted for the program and are designed to offer balanced, healthy meals for the participants. This program offers two choices for meals: standard and vegetarian. We are unable to customize menus for individuals. However, we have found that by requesting sauces and dressing to be served on the side, we are able to accommodate various food intolerances and allergies. Vegetarian meals must be requested in advance on your Participant Information Form. Unfortunately, there are no other special meal options. Participants with special dietary needs should be prepared to avoid certain foods or supplement the regular meal plan as needed.

Universally considered the finest composer of his time, Johan Sebastian Bach is one of the great music icons of world history. A master of every genre of the late-Baroque era with the exception of opera, Bach created some of the most enduring masterpieces of the classical music repertoire. Discussions will focus on the development of Bach’s music in relation to the chronology of his life.

The shadow of Ludwig van Beethoven was so intimidating to composers of the early 19th century that new genres of music were developed to avoid comparison to his symphonies, sonatas, and string quartets. From George Washington to Barack Obama, the inaugural addresses tell a fascinating story of our presidents
and the times in which they lived. During this class we will revisit their words, consider the moments at which they were spoken, and rank the speaker’s place in the pantheon of presidents.

You can take the airport shuttle to SFO and then take the light rail system, BART, into San Francisco. Or, you can take the airport shuttle to the international terminal and explore the Aviation Museum which is an architectural adaptation of the airport's 1930s passenger lobby. The collection focuses on air transport with an emphasis on the West Coast and the Pacific region.
Admission is free. Or, take the complimentary City of Burlingame shuttle to the heart of downtown Burlingame for a relaxing stroll and check out the historic train station, beautiful library and interesting shops and restaurants.Dinner: At the hotel
