Day Two: Saturday, September 27 - Milwaukee’s Heritage in History, Food, Art…and Ha...
Note: Travel 80 miles from Chicago O'Hare Airport area to Milwaukee. Multiple visits in Milwaukee, by private motorcoach. Walking and standing in museums for up to one hour at a time. Many options within walking distance of less than one mile from the hotel to Historic Third Ward.

Breakfast: Full American breakfast buffet in the hotel.

Morning: Depart for Milwaukee via coach. Upon arrival, FIELD TRIP: Take in the "Streets of Milwaukee" exhibit at the Milwaukee Public Museum - An excellent introduction to the history of the city

Lunch: Savor the flavors of Milwaukee's German heritage at an iconic restaurant.

Afternoon: FIELD TRIP: Explore the unique, private collection "Men at Work" at Milwaukee School of Engineering's Grohmann Museum, illustrating industry through the ages. EXCURSION: Learn about the history of motorcycles at the Harley-Davidson Museum, which tells stories of the world wars, engineering developments, entrepreneurial advancements, women and famous people who were riders, and much, much more. Day Three: Sunday, September 28 - Lake Michigan Maritime Heritage
Note: Drive from Milwaukee to Sturgeon Bay: 154 miles. Walking and standing in the museum for up to one hour. To visit the Tugboat John Purves, there are unavoidable stairs. Drive Sturgeon Bay to Ephraim: 35 miles. The Pine Grove Resort does not have an elevator. Ground Floor rooms are available. There are a few steps into the main lobby area.

Breakfast: Full American breakfast buffet in the hotel restaurant.

Morning: Complete your survey of Milwaukee with a scenic overview, ending at the opening of the wings of the Burke Brise Soleil over the roof of the art museum. Depart to Door County.

Lunch: Box lunch at the Door County Maritime Museum.

Afternoon: FIELD TRIP: In Sturgeon Bay, learn about the area’s rich maritime roots at the Door County Maritime Museum. Explore the John Purves, an immaculately restored 1960s era Great Lakes tugboat. Continue through the rural landscapes of Door County, to Ephraim, on the northern shore of the peninsula.

Day Four: Monday, September 29 - Door County Lighthouses and Natural History
Note: Full day private motorcoach visit of Door County, with multiple stops en route.

Morning: FIELD TRIP: A full-day exploration of Door County’s scenery, lighthouses and history with a local expert, takes in Eagle Bluff Lighthouse and a short nature walk in Peninsula State Park.

Lunch: Savor traditional Swedish fare at Door County's most famous venue, Al Johnson's Swedish Restaurant.

Afternoon: Explore the views around Cana Island Lighthouse and Baileys Harbor Lights and stop at a local farmstand, where you might sample seasonal produce.

Day Five: Tuesday, September 30 - Green Bay Highlights: The National Railroad Museu...
Note: The drive from Door County to Green Bay is approximately 1.5 hours. Access to the rolling stock exhibits in the National Railroad Museum have steps. The train ride is accessible. The visit of Lambeau Field Stadium is one hour, with walking over flat ground over .5 mile, with 15-20 steps. The museum has an elevator. The Hall of Fame visit is self-guided. The drive from Green Bay to Menominee is approximately 1 hour. AmericInn does not have an elevator. Ground floor rooms are available.

Breakfast: Continental breakfast items are available in the hotel's pantry area, for you to enjoy from your room's water view balcony.

Morning: Depart to Green Bay. FIELD TRIP: Explore the National Railroad Museum. Learn about the Union Pacific Big Boy, one of the world's largest steam locomotives.

Lunch: At the National Railroad Museum, dine like a real rail rider with a "Hobo" (boxed) lunch

Afternoon: Take some time to explore the museum exhibits at your own pace, then board the museum’s restored Silver Spirit lounge-observation car for a rolling LECTURE on railroad dining. The Silver Spirit was built for the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad in 1939. During your trip around the museum grounds, sample deserts created from authentic railroad dining car recipes. Continue to Lambeau Field, the home of the Green Bay Packers. Take a guided EXCURSION through the stadium then view the team memorabilia in the Hall of Fame museum. Learn how this community-owned franchise has impacted its hometown. Continue along the shores of the lake and cross into the state of Michigan.

Dinner: Near the hotel.

Evening: At leisure. If the weather is fine, perhaps stroll along the shores of Lake Michigan, to search for seaglass.

Day Six: Wednesday, October 01 - From Lake Michigan’s Shores to Lake Huron and Mac...
Note: Full day travel from Menominee to Mackinaw City is 250 miles, with multiple stops en route. The ferry ride from Mackinaw City to Mackinac Island is approximately sixteen minutes. The ferry has both indoor and outdoor seating areas. Mackinac Island has no motorized transportation. Horse carriages are used when transportation is needed. There is a step up onto horse carriages.

Breakfast: Full American breakfast buffet in the hotel restaurant.

Morning: Today’s journey follows the shores of Lake Michigan in Wisconsin and then crosses into the state of Michigan at Escanaba, where we change to Eastern Standard Time.

Lunch: Stop in Escanaba to pick up a local specialty: Cornish Pasties.

Afternoon: Continue along the Upper Peninsula. The views of Lake Michigan often resemble the Caribbean on a sunny day! Cross the Mackinaw Bridge that links Michigan’s Upper and Lower Peninsulas. In Mackinaw City, board the ferry for the short crossing to Mackinac Island. On the island, there are no motorized vehicles, so walking the main street is like stepping back in time.

Dinner: In the hotel's 1852 Grill Room Restaurant.

Day Seven: Thursday, October 02 - Historic Mackinac Island and the Iconic Grand Hot...
Note: Access onto horse-drawn carriages and taxis requires one or two steps. The visit of Fort Mackinac is self-guided and there are accessible walkways throughout the fort.

Breakfast: Buffet breakfast in the hotel.

Morning: FIELD TRIP: Walk to Fort Mackinac, which houses the oldest building in Michigan, and exhibits that describe military training and family life within the fort. Learn about its founding during the American Revolution and the role it played in the War of 1812 and the fur trade. EXCURSION: Board private livery carriages to view the island at a two-horse power pace.

Lunch: Delight your eyes and your palate at the Grand Hotel's Grand Luncheon Buffet in the Main Dining Room, featuring seafood, salads, hot and cold entrees and a sumptuous selection of pastries. After dining, you are welcome to explore the public areas of the Grand Hotel on your own.

Afternoon: At leisure to explore Mackinac Island independently.

Drive 105 miles from Mackinaw City to Traverse City, with stops en route.

Breakfast: Buffet breakfast in the hotel.

Morning: Return to Mackinaw City via ferry, and then re-board our private motorcoach. Depart to Traverse City.

Lunch: At a local farmstand cafe en route.

Afternoon: EXCURSION: Enjoy the wonders and music of one of the most extensive collections of rare automatic musical instruments and learn the evolution of radio and phonograph at the Music House Museum. Continue to Traverse City.

Note: Full day motorcoach field trip with multiple stops. Walking on sand and unpaved ground in Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park to viewpoints. Short nature walk of 25-30 minutes on a boardwalk.

Breakfast: At the hotel

Morning: A full day FIELD TRIP explores the Leelanau Peninsula and Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park. Take a scenic drive with a naturalist to enjoy sweeping views over the dunes and along the shoreline of Lake Michigan.

Lunch: In Leland’s historical district, known as Fishtown, where rustic shanties and docks are reminiscent of life and commercial fishing one hundred years ago.

Afternoon: FIELD TRIP: At the Inland Seas Education Center. LECTURE: learn about the role of wetlands, the ecology and conservation of Lake Michigan and its plants and organisms. HANDS-ON-EXPERIENCE: A wetlands walk examines fish and plankton samples. Sample some local wine en route back to Traverse City.

Note: Travel 145 miles from Traverse City to Frederik Meijer Gardens. Travel 43 miles from the gardens to Saugatuck. The motel in Saugatuck does not have an elevator. Ground floor rooms are available.

Morning: Depart to Grand Rapids. EXCURSION: At the Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park, enjoy the indoor and outdoor botanical gardens, nature trails and magnificent sculptures by renowned artists.

Lunch: At the Frederik Meijer Gardens.

Afternoon: Continue to Saugatuck, situated where the Kalamazoo River meets Lake Michigan. This former logging town, with its timeless charm is now known as the “art coast” of Michigan. Enjoy the sunset views over the sailboats and river.

Day Eleven: Monday, October 06 - Chicago Architectural River Cruise
Note: The drive from Saugatuck to Chicago is 140 miles. There is a flight of steps from the street level to the river quay to board the river cruise boat. The river cruise is 90 minutes. Optimal viewing is on the open deck however indoor seating is also available. The drive from Chicago to O'Hare International Airport area is 19 miles.

Breakfast: Continental breakfast in the hotel.

Morning: Depart to Chicago.

Lunch: In the heart of Chicago, near the river.

Afternoon: FIELD TRIP: Take in the world renowned architecture of Chicago on the Chicago Architecture Foundation River Cruise, providing an overview of the city's history and illustrating its connection to Lake Michigan and the river. Continue to the Chicago O'Hare International Airport area for the final night.Your circuit of Lake Michigan is complete!

Dinner: Farewell Dinner in the hotel.
