Day One: Saturday, December 13 - Arrival / Transfer to Agra / Sunset at the Taj
Note: This program is an extension to 20336 Trekking in the Himalayas. Transfer time from the Delhi Airport to Agra is approximately 4 hours.

Morning: In the late morning, arrive to Delhi from your flight from Kathmandu. Transfer to Agra.

Lunch: Box lunch en route to Agra.

Afternoon: En route presentation by your Study Leader on Indian History, with a focus on Mughul period. Upon arrival in Agra in the late afternoon, view the Taj Mahal from across the at Mehtab Bagah translated as "Moonlight Garden". The octagonal pool in the centre of the terrace provides a great setting to view the Taj Mahal. (NOTE: if this is not possible to do today, you will do this visit the next day).

Dinner: Dinner at the hotel.

Day Two: Sunday, December 14 - Early Morning at the Taj Mahal / Agra Fort / Itim...
Note: Note, you will be walking to the Taj with your Study Leader. The walk is approximately 10-20 minutes.

Breakfast: In the hotel upon return from the Taj Mahal.

Morning: Set out in the early morning to watch the sun bathe the pristine white marble of the Taj Mahal in warm hues of gold, ochre and orange. Take some time to explore the exquisite grounds and view the highly decorated inside chamber. Next, visit Agra Fort. Originally planned as an impregnable military structure by Akbar, the Agra Fort, over a period of time, acquired all the elegance, lavishness and majesty of an imperial palace.

Lunch: Lunch at a local restaurant.

Afternoon: Explore Itmad Ud Daula the first tomb in India built entirely with white marble. Then return to the hotel for some time to relax.

Dinner: At the hotel.

Day Three: Monday, December 15 - Depart for Delhi / Lodhi Garden / New Delhi Explo...
Note: Transfer to Delhi will take about 4 hours with rest stops.

Breakfast: In the hotel.

Morning: Transfer to Delhi. Upon arrival explore the Lodhi Garden on foot, a beautiful garden with many small tombs built during the Mughul time, and a peaceful place in the heart of Delhi.

Lunch: Lunch at a local restaurant.

Afternoon: Explore India Gate, Parliament house via walking. India Gate is constructed as a memorial and was built in the memory of 90,00 soldiers who laid down their lives during world war I. Today, it stands as a popular hang out spot for locals, where can you can watch monkeys perform, enjoy a camel ride, blow soap bubbles all over the lawns, play with balloons and just experience the vividness of India come alive. Then transfer to your hotel.

Dinner: Dinner on your own.

Day Four: Tuesday, December 16 - Connought Place / Old Delhi and Chandni Chowk.
Note: The group flights departs around midnight or 1am in the morning.

Breakfast: Buffet breakfast in the hotel.

Morning: Explore Raj Ghat - the cremation ground of Mahatma Gandhi. Visit Connaught Place and spend some time with the guides of the NGO Salaam Baalak Trust, who have developed an exciting city walk through the enchanting streets of the inner-city of Paharganj and the New Delhi railway station area. Nobody knows Delhi's streets better than the young people who are fully trained as guides. These spirited youngsters will share their life journey and take you on a guided walk by visiting the schools that are funded by this walk.

Lunch: In a local restaurant.

Afternoon: Explore Old Delhi. Drive past the Red Fort, and then go on a bicycle rickshaw ride around the heart of Chandni Chowk, - named for the silver merchants - navigating narrow alleyways, and a bustle of people, to end at Jama Masjid, the largest Muslim mosque in India.

Dinner: In the hotel.

Evening: Your program ends after dinner on this Day five. Please note that most flights depart Delhi in midnight or later.

Day Five: Wednesday, December 17 - Return flight home
