Day Two: Saturday, June 01 - Bike along the Willamette River and Springwater c...
Note: 11 miles short ride to Crystal Springs gardens 24 miles RT to Powell Butte 32 miles RT to town of Gresham

Breakfast: Enjoy your breakfast cooked to order at the Embassy Suites.

Morning: Pick up our bikes and ride along the eastside of Willamette River to Crystal Springs Rhododendron gardens.

Lunch: Lunch at a local bakery.

Afternoon: Bike along the Springwater corridor, a rails to trails, to either Powell Butte or town of Gresham. After our bike ride enjoy a brief walking tour of Portland to see many of its artworks and history that were funded by a 1 percent public art tax on city construction projects. Visit Skidmore Fountain constructed in 1888 to provide water for the citizens as well as their horses. Enjoy drinking from the Benson bubbler water fountains scattered thoughout the city in 1912, so the mill workers would have more to drink than alcohol.

Dinner: Free time with dinner on your own, as you take advantage of our downtown location to select from one of Porltand's great restaurants that are within easy walking distance.

Evening: Free time as you enjoy many of Portland's entertainment options within walking distance of our lodging.

Day Three: Sunday, June 02 - Bike along the Willamette River to the quaint St....
Note: 18 mile RT bike ride to St. Johns neighborhood 21 mile RT to St. Johns and Columbia Slough 31 mile RT to Kelley Point park

Breakfast: Enjoy your breakfast cooked to order at the Embassy Suites.

Morning: Bike along the Willamette River past University of Portland to St. Johns neighborhood. Walk across the St. John's bridge (painted green for St. Patrick's day). St. Johns bridge is the longest suspension bridge in the Northwest with the highest clearance.

Lunch: Lunch at St. John's brew pub, built in 1905 as the National Cash Register Company's exhibit hall for Portland's Lewis and Clark Exposition.

Afternoon: Optional additional bike rides to the Columbia Slough and/or Kelly Point Park at the junctions of Columbia and Willamette Rivers. After our bike ride, we can enjoy Portland's Saturday market, which is the nation's largest weekly open-air arts and crafts market. neighborhoods.

Dinner: Dinner is on your own as you select from Portland's many interesting restaurants. Join the guide for a dinner at Brideport brewpub, Oregon's oldest craft brewery. Portland is the beer capital of the world with 30 breweries within city limits, which is more than any other city on earth.

Evening: Free time to enjoy Portland's many fine entertainment options or visit Powells bookstore, covering an entire block with 3 floors of 1.5 million books, which is the largest used and new bookstore on earth.

Day Four: Monday, June 03 - Use Portlands transit system to transport you up ...
Use Portlands transit system to transport you up the hills (MAX train) and descend the hills on the tram.

Note: 8 miles short ride along the Willamette River. 26 miles medium ride up to Council Crest, along the Willamette river and the cute Hawthorne district. 30 miles for the medium ride up Mt. Tabor, an extinct volcano.

Breakfast: Enjoy your breakfast cooked to order at the Embassy Suites.

Morning: Learn about Portland's ongoing initiatives to create the most bike friendly city in the US. Portland claims to be Bike City, USA due to its 315 miles of bikeways and the nations highest percentage of bike commuters at 7%. We'll put our bikes on the MAX train to ride up to Portland Zoo and Forest Park, the biggest park in Portland. Then ride along the heights to Council Crest for outstanding views of Portland and the surrounding Cascade mountains. Then descend on Portland's bullet shaped Tram built in 2006 down to the south waterfront. Then bike along the Willamette River, which bisects Portland to Butterfly park. We will pass by Mill Ends park at 24 inches in diameter which is the world's smallest dedicated park. Enjoy views of Mt. Hood in the distance.

Lunch: Enjoy Portland's food carts as you choose from many options

Afternoon: For those that want an additional 18 mile RT, we can cross over the Willamette River and bike to Mt. Tabor, an extinct volcano through many of Portland's quaint neighborhoods lined by flowering trees and plants.

Dinner: A farewell dinner at a local restaurant with the opportunity to try some local wines. Re-live our memories from our days together.

Evening: Share stories, photos and experiences from the week during a closing program that ends by 9:00 pm.
