Visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art and attend the Museum Mile Festival

Breakfast: Continental Breakfast in Meeting Room

Morning: Lecture about the Metropolitan Museum of Art, its history and holdings by a noted scholar.

Lunch: Enjoy lunch on your own.

Afternoon: View the holdings of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The 'Met' is to New York what the Louvre is to Paris. It's an astonishing museum in its scale and size - the best museum by far in the New World, and one of the 'must-visit' sights of New York. The collection of European art encompasses all ages from the Romans to Renoir, with works by all the masters on view. The Met's reach, though, is global: Egypt, Africa, the Middle East and Oceania are all represented and there is an extensive collection of American art.

Dinner: Dine in an upper east side restaurant

Evening: One day a year, for the past 32 years, nine of the country's finest museums, all ones that call Fifth Avenue home, collectively open their doors from 6pm - 9pm for free to New Yorkers and visitors for a mile-long block party and visual art celebration. This traffic-free, music- and art-filled celebration fills the street and sidewalks of Fifth Avenue from 82nd to 105th street, the mile now officially designated as Museum Mile.
