Orientation and welcome to the Crystal City with two lectures, on the history of Steuben Glass and Early American glass.

Lunch: Registration at 11 am in the lobby with this week's hosts. Lunch in the dining room is served at 12:30 PM. Lunch buffet includes a full salad bar daily in addition to featured entres.

Afternoon: Jenny Monroe, site coordinator, will introduce the site, staff and program details. Then we will introduce group members to each other. Next we will commence our glass program with a lecture by Tom Dimitroff on the history of the Crystal City. The swimming pool will be available from 4:30 - 5:30 PM.

Dinner: Dinner is served at 6PM in the dining room. We feature all-you-can-eat country-style buffet entrees with at least one vegetarian option and a salad bar with dinner.

Evening: Lecture at 7PM on Glass in Early America by Mary Cheek Mills, educator at the Corning Museum of Glass.

At the Corning Museum of Glass, we will blow an ornament, have gallery tours and lectures, plus have free time to explore the amazing collections that span 35 centuries and varied shops within this museum - the finest collection of glass in the world.

Breakfast: Breakfast entrees, hot and cold, are served at 8 AM in the dining room. Coffee, tea and decaf are available 24/7. In addition to three meals, three snacks will be offered each day to participants.

Morning: Our first day at the world famous Corning Museum of Glass. We begin the day with our appointment at the Studio to blow an ornament and make a fused suncatcher. We will also have a lecture by Tom Dimitroff in the Carder Steuben Gallery. Then we'll walk across the parking lot to visit the main museum and do a quick walk through with Jenny Monroe introducing the various galleries of art, science and technology that span 3500 years of glass history. We will see the Hot Glass Show and other demonstrations.

Lunch: Lunch will be at the Corning Museum of Glass Cafe, vouchers will be provided.

Afternoon: After lunch we will have a docent-led tour of the Heinemann Collection - an amazing private collection of the best of contemporary glass from artists around the world, 1960s to the present. After a break of an hour of free time to explore on your own, we will re-group to have a gallery lecture by Jane Shadel Spillman, Curator of American Glass, on Louis Comfort Tiffany. Upon return to Watson Homestead, swimming pool will be available from 4:30 - 5:30 PM.

Dinner: Dinner is served at 6PM in the dining room. We feature all-you-can-eat country-style buffet entrees with at least one vegetarian option and a salad bar with dinner.

Evening: Opportunity to view films created by the Museum featuring master glass artists.

More at the Corning Museum of Glass including the Rakow Research Library, the Conservation Laboratory and a gallery tour. Then off to visit historic Market Street district and have a wine reception at the home of a Steuben collector. Homemade ice cream!

Morning: We will visit the Rakow Research Library for a tour with Elizabeth Hylen who will show us its rare boook holdings. Our next stop will be a behind-the-scenes visit to the Museum Conservation Laboratory with a presentation by Steven Koob and/or Astrid vanGiffen about how they conserve glass in the collection and ready it for travel. Then we have another hour of free time at the Museum before lunch.

Lunch: Lunch will be at the Corning Museum of Glass Cafe, vouchers will be provided.

Afternoon: We will have a docent-led tour of highlights of the historic collection from ancient glass through the European collection. Then after a final hour of free time, we will board our bus for a drive-thru tour of the Market Street historic district, an architecturally significant collection of late 19th century brick and terra cotta ornamented commercial buildings. We will visit the exquisitly restored home of a Carder Steuben glass collector, Dick Bright, in Corning's historic Southside neighborhood disctict and enjoy a Finger Lakes wine reception.

Dinner: Dinner is served at 6PM in the dining room. We feature all-you-can-eat country-style buffet entrees with at least one vegetarian option and a full salad bar with each dinner.

Evening: This evening's activity, a Watson Homestead tradition, is for everyone to help crank the ice cream, then it's your choice of toppings or home-made maple syrup!

Guided tour of the western American art collections at the Rockwell Museum in downtown Corning. Also of note is the meticulous restoration of the 1893 Romanesque Revival Old City Hall building for the art collections between 1981 and 2006.
