Morning: From 8:30-12:00 noon, you'll learn about the fascinating development of what is now modern-day Tucson from the archeology of the area to the history of the Old Pueblo. Breaks included.

Afternoon: Board bus for Arizona Historical Society and Arizona State Museum visits.

Breakfast: Breakfast at the hotel

Morning: Breakfast in hotel dining area. Lecture on the Wild West and Tucson area from 1500s to the present.

At 10:30, board bus for a trip to White Stallion Dude Ranch. A working cattle ranch, this beautiful facility offers many wonderful programs to people of all ages. You'll love seeing the beautiful setting and landscaping, and will hear a short presentation about the Ranch's history.

Lunch: Lunch at White Stallion Ranch from 12:30-1:30 PM will feature some excellent cuisine, nutritous, colorful and delicious!

Afternoon: Visit to the Steward Observatory Mirror Lab (closed-toes shoes required), followed by a guided bus exploration of Tucson.

Dinner: Dinner at the hotel from 6:00-7:00 PM

Evening: This evening, you'll be treated to a performance by a country/Western guitarist/vocalist from 7:30-8:30 PM.

Morning: This morning, you'll board the bus and travel to Ted DeGrazia's art gallery.

In the 1940s, Arizona artist Ted DeGrazia had little success finding a gallery to represent him, so he decided to take matters into his own hands. First he built a studio at the corner of Prince Road and Campbell in Tucson, but as the city grew around him, he and his wife Marion bought 10 isolated acres in the foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains where they built a chapel, home, and a small adjoining gallery to exhibit his originals. The prolific artist soon needed more space to house his continuing output of originals. As his fame and finances flourished, he designed and built a larger adobe galley on the site and moved his growing collections out of what is now known as the Little Gallery at DeGrazia Gallery in the Sun.

Lunch: Lunch today will be at El Charro Café near Sabino Canyon .

Established in 1922, el Charro Café of Tucson is the nation’s oldest Mexican restaurant in continuous operation by the same family, featuring traditional Sonoran cultural style and innovative Tucson style Mexican food. They have several locations thoughout Tucson.

Afternoon: After lunch, you'll visit Sabino Canyon. This extremely popular recreation area is located along Sabino Creek at the edge of Tucson, Arizona. For many who come to visit the Southwest, this area provides their first close encounter with the Sonoran Desert and the fascinating variety of plants and animals that make it their home. There is a self-guided Desert Nature Trail at the Sabino Canyon Visitor Center which provides an excellent way to get to know the plants that have adapted to living in this demanding environment. A 45-minute shuttle exploration will be taken upon arrival with time available afterward for your personal exploration. Bus returns to the hotel about 5:00 PM.

Dinner: Dinner will be on your own tonight.

Located just a few blocks from the hotel is Restaurant Row, where many different kinds of restaurants will lend themselves to your dining pleasure. The hotel van will take you there and pick you up, if you don't feel like walking. Just inquire in advance at the front desk for shuttle times.

Day Five: Thursday, March 28 - Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum/Mission San Xavier del Bac 
Note: Walking up to one mile over the course of the day over paved and unpaved terrain. Standing for up to an hour at a time at museum and at Mission.

Breakfast: Breakfast at the hotel

Morning: From 8:00-9:00 AM, there will be a lecture in the hotel's meeting room about the flora and fauna of the Sonora Desert, and how plants and animals have adapted to the climate here. At 9:30 AM, bus will depart for a field trip to the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. This Museum is a world-renowned zoo, natural history museum and botanical garden, all in one location. Exhibits depict the natural landscape of the Sonora Desert region so realistically that you find yourself looking into the eyes of mountain lions, prairie dogs, Gila monsters and more! You'll see more than 300 animal species and 1,200 kinds of plants. Although you don't have to walk all of them, there are almost 2 miles of paths traversing 21 acres of beautiful desert.

Lunch: Lunch at Ironwood Terraces Restaurant at The Desert Museum

Afternoon: After lunch, bus departs for another field trip, this time to Mission San Xavier del Bac.

The celebrated Jesuit missionary and explorer, Father Eusebio Francisco Kino, first visited 'Bac" in 1692. Eight years later in 1700, Father Kino laid the foundations of the first church, some two miles north of the present Mission site. He named it San Xavier in honor of his chosen patron, St. Francis Xavier, the illustrious Jesuit "Apostle of the Indies."

In 1768, Fray Francisco Hermengildo Garces, a man of outstanding personality and prodigious accomplishments among all missionaries in Arizona, established his headquarters at San Xavier. From here, this Franciscan Friar set forth on his many missionary explorations.

Bus returns to the hotel at 4:30 PM.

Dinner: Dinner from 6:00-7:00 PM at the hotel

Evening: Following dinner, we'll have our program closing and question and answer time in a hotel meeting room with your group leader.
