Canoeing and Fishing
Breakfast:
Morning:
Expert-led canoe instruction at Bald Eagle State Park. The 5,900-acre park lies in the broad Bald Eagle Valley of northcentral Pennsylvania. Two geologic provinces create Bald Eagle's scenic beauty. The Allegheny Plateau to the north and west holds smooth, undulating uplands. The Ridge and Valley Province to the south and east contains numerous long, narrow mountain ridges separated by valleys. The 1,730-acre reservoir (Foster Joseph Sayer's Lake) and its 23 miles of shoreline offer excellent warm water fishing. Common fish are crappie, yellow perch, tiger muskellunge, channel catfish and largemouth and smallmouth bass. Sayers Reservoir is a panfish enhancement waterway and special regulations apply. An ADA accessible fishing pier is located at the Summer/Winter Launch in the Main Park Area. Ice fishing is permitted. Ice thickness is not monitored. For your safety, be sure the ice is at least four inches thick and carry safety equipment.
Lunch:
Lunch at Bald Eagle State Park
Afternoon:
Fishing with local area expert. Swimming at Bald Eagle State Park. Our Fishing Program is an educational program designed for families with minimal fishing experience. Families will learn basic fishing skills and have an opportunity to practice those skills while fishing together at the lake. You will learn about fishing safety and manners, how to cast your line and tie knots (and practice both of these skills), basic fishing tackle, laws and regulations, etc.

Clyde Peeling's Reptiland Reptiland is a specialized zoo that introduces visitors to the less-loved members of the animal kingdom in a safe, entertaining format. Explore the world of mambas, cobras, vipers, pythons and other rare and beautiful snakes. Giant alligators, gentle tortoises, curious lizards and colorful frogs also await discovery on this zoological adventure. An exciting multi-media show reveals the close-up world of reptiles on the big screen and live lecture demonstrations offer guests the chance to touch harmless specimens and speak with friendly experts. Daily feedings offer a glimpse of natural behaviors and innovative interactive exhibits involve visitors in the learning experience. Test your reptile knowledge with Lizard Wizard and Turtle Trivia, spin a zoetrope to discover how sidewinder rattlesnakes move across hot sand or touch casts of reptile skins to feel the differences between turtles, crocodilians and snakes. Reptiland is truly a year-round attraction. The newly renovated indoor exhibit complex allows comfortable viewing of more than 40 species in recreated natural habitats. During summer months tortoises and aquatic turtles live in outdoor habitats among lush gardens where ornamental grasses, bamboo and flowering perennials abound. Pine Creek Trail
USA Today rated Pine Creek Rail Trail as one of the 10 great places to take a bike tour in their July 2001 article. Long ago, the swift waters of Pine Creek were traveled via footpath and canoe by the Seneca Indians. Then in 1883, the railroading days began. Trains carried timber, coal and eventually passengers north into New York State. The Pine Creek Trail travels along the floor of Pine Creek Gorge. One of the most spectacular natural areas in Pennsylvania, Pine Creek Gorge is often referred to as the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania, and was recognized as a National Natural Landmark in 1968. The opportunities for sightseeing are endless. Trail users can view dramatic rock outcrops, waterfalls, wildlife such as eagles, osprey, coyote, deer, wild turkeys, herons, hawks or even a river otter to name just a few. Rare plants, old growth hemlock, native red pine and even the old Civilian Conservation Corps camp foundation can be found along the trail.

Heisey Museum
The Clinton County Historical Society's main attraction is located in the heart of Lock Haven. The spectacular eight room Victorian home, known at the Heisey Museum, is fully restored to the mid 1800's. This house has served as a farmhouse, tavern, doctor's home, and home to several other locally prominent families. First constructed as a Federal style building, circa 1830, it acquired its Gothic character in a major remodeling, circa 1865. The home must be maintained in its present state to be used as a museum and to display the Victorian era collections in room settings which reflect life as it was in Lock Haven 175 years ago. The Heisey Museum has served as the home to the Clinton County Historical Society.

Northcentral Region of Pennsylvania State Parks
