Equipment Requirements
A day pack or fanny pack, good quality hiking shoes or boots, rain gear, sunglasses, insect repellent and sunscreen. A broad brimmed hat, Photography equipment should include: Digital single lens reflex camera (a small point and shoot can work, but limit your accomplishments), Lens from wide angle to telephoto (zoom is okay), a decent tripod, ideally one that goes low to the ground for close-ups, filter (s) such as a polarizer, camera batteries, extension tubes for close-ups are optional, cleaning aids for camera and lenses, extra flash cards for camera (CF or SD cards), electronic shutter release cord is optional, laptop computer with imaging software such as Adobe Elements, Lightroom or Photoshop is very desirable, external hard drives for backup of photos taken,

Afternoon: An Road Scholar registration desk will be set up near the front desk in the lobby of the hotel. A welcome reception and orientation will be held before dinner. After guests meet and greet there will be a hiking safety talk.

Dinner: Buffet dinner at the Inn will include; two salads, two entrées (one of which will be vegetarian), vegetables, rice, potatoes, or pasta, a fresh fruit selection, dessert and coffee.

Evening: A waterfall photography lecture with expert photographer Len Rue.

Day Two: Monday, October 21 - Photo field trip, scenic picnic,critique session,...
Photo field trip, scenic picnic,critique session, Cultural history talk given by the NPS

Breakfast: Enjoy a hot or cold breakfast at the Shawnee Inn's River Room restaurant overlooking the Shawnee Inn campus.

Morning: The first photo field trip will begin at Tumbling Waters in the Pecono Environmental Educational Center shooting nature and waterfall scenes with our pro.

Lunch: We will enjoy a picnic lunch in a beautiful scenic location near Tumbling Waters.

Afternoon: This afternoon you will attend a critique led by Len Rue in a classroom setting at the Inn. Len will also teach various skills in photography enhancement in this first photography workshop.

Dinner: Buffet dinner at the Inn.

Day Three: Tuesday, October 22 - Photo field trip, picnic lunch, critique session ...
Photo field trip, picnic lunch, critique session and evening riverside concert.

Breakfast: Start the day with a River Room buffet breakfast.

Morning: Today's photo field trip will be an adventure at Raymondskill Falls. You will work with Len learning skills to capture wildlife and landscape photography including beautiful waterfall scenes along the way.

Lunch: We will enjoy a picnic lunch in a peaceful woodland forest area.

Afternoon: We will return to the classroom for photography workshop II. There we will learn how to enhance our digital photography with the latest technology and learn important skills with exposure and photo filters..

Dinner: Buffet dinner at the Inn.

Evening: A delightful riverside concert will take place on the Grand Lawn of the Inn beside the scenic Delaware River.

Morning: Today we will experience the amazing sights and tranquil sounds of Buttermilk Falls where we will embark on our third photo fieldtrip.

Lunch: Lunch on your own provides an opportunity to experience one of the many local restaurants. Free time activities will be suggested.

Afternoon: Free time afternoon

Dinner: Buffet dinner at the Inn.

Evening: The evening program will be a nocturnal hike with our naturalist.

Day Five: Thursday, October 24 - Photo field trip, rustic picnic lunch, critique s...
Photo field trip, rustic picnic lunch, critique session, special farewell dinner, evening lecture.

Breakfast: Greet the day at the River Room breakfast buffet.

Morning: Today's field trip will take us to the Copper Mine trail to photograph nature and landscapes and learn about close-up photography with Len. The area is very historical and you will also learn about the unique history and the old Copper Mine.

Lunch: Our picnic lunch will delight off a rustic trail in the National Park.

Afternoon: Today we will focus on photo design, environmental literacy and exposure notes along with our critique session in the photography workshop.

Dinner: Our farewell dinner will be at the Gem & Keystone Tavern, a short walk from the Inn.

Evening: This evening's guest speaker, Len Rue will take you on a magical photo journey to some of the most interesting places on earth.

Day Six: Friday, October 25 - AT Thru-Hiker Talk
