Day One: Sunday, October 25 - Independent Arrivals / Orientation / Welcome Dinn...
Arrive To: Luis Muñoz Marin International Airport (SJU) — San Juan, Puerto Rice. See the Travel Information section regarding transfers. If you are an independent traveler (POP status), see “Ground Transportation to First Location.”

Afternoon: Orientation: At 5:00 p.m., we will gather in our reserved room at the hotel and the Group Leader will greet everyone with a warm welcome and lead introductions. We will review the up-to-date program schedule and any changes, discuss roles and responsibilities, logistics, safety guidelines, emergency procedures including contact numbers for key staff, and answer any questions you may have.

Scheduled free time is reserved for your personal independent exploration. Please be aware that program activities, schedules, and personnel may need to change due to local circumstances. In the event of changes, we will alert you as quickly as possible. Thank you for your understanding.

Dinner: Dinner at local restaurant within walking distance of the hotel. Plated meal including soft drinks .

Day Two: Monday, October 26 - Hike at Caguas Botanical Garden / Travel to La Pa...
Breakfast: At the hotel, we will enjoy a buffet featuring a wide variety of options including eggs, pancakes, waffles, bread, toast, cereal, and breakfast meats, plus coffee, tea, juice, water.

Morning: Hotel Check Out . Transfer via Motor coach. En route to La Parguera, we will stop at the Caguas Botanical Garden and Cultural Center for an easy-to-moderate hike leaded buy a local guide. Taking advantage of Puerto Rico’s pristine climate, the 60 acre gardens use nature and agriculture to tell the island’s history and culture. This unique park will be open exclusively for our group.

Lunch: In the botanical gardens, enjoy a picnic lunch including a fresh salad and/or a sandwich , juices and/or iced tea included.

Afternoon: Continuing our transfer to La Parguera, we will travel via the Luis A. Ferre Highway over La Cordillera Central – the island's main mountain range – into the southwestern part of Puerto Rico.

Dinner: At the hotel, enjoy a buffet, including soft drinks , coffee or tea.

Day Three: Tuesday, October 27 - Hiking in Guanica Forest / Visit to the Beach/ Sn...
Breakfast: At the hotel, we will enjoy a buffet featuring a wide variety of options including eggs, bread, toast, cereal, and breakfast meats, plus coffee, tea, juice, water.

Morning: After breakfast, we'll depart for Guanica in our motor coach, where we'll trail hike from sea level to 600 feet at Guanica Dry Forest -- a UN Biosphere Reserve. Along the way, we'll learn about this unique habitat and the research being conducted there. The hike will be approximately 1.0 miles over rubbly terrain. Solid walking shoes with good ankle support are a must.

On the way back to the hotel we'll stop at one of the beautiful beaches that line Puerto Rico’s southern shore to relax and swim if you choose. (please bring swimwear & towel).

Lunch: Lunch at the hotel

Afternoon: Meeting at the pool for snorkeling practice, the Group Leader will provide basic instruction and training on how to snorkel as well as other useful tips to fully enjoy your snorkeling experience in Puerto Rico.

Dinner: Plated dinner at a local restaurant , soft drink and coffee included

Evening: Enjoy a movie in the garden by the pool.

Day Four: Wednesday, October 28 - Snorkeling near La Parguera Reef / Free Afternoon...
Snorkeling near La Parguera Reef / Free Afternoon / Night Swim in Bio-luminescent Bay

Breakfast: Continental Breakfast at the hotel including options such as eggs, sliced bacon or sausages, sliced bread or toast with jam/jelly/butter,cornflakes or other cereal, coffee/tea, orange/grapefruit juice.

Morning: We will embark on a boat to sail to the coral heads, approximately 1 mile offshore. There, we will snorkel in La Parguera Reed, which protects a wide variety of marine life found in La Parguera Nature Reserve by providing them with shelter and food. The reef averages between 3 to 10 feet in depth with great visibility.

Lunch: Lunch at the hotel

Afternoon: Free Time. Take this opportunity for personal independent exploration to see and do what interests you most. Spend the afternoon by the pool or take the time to explore La Parguera. Please refer to the list of Free Time Opportunities. The Group Leader will be happy to offer suggestions.

Dinner: Buffet-style dinner at the Parador Villa Parguera.

Evening: We will take a nighttime boat trip to see the marine light show produced by dinoflagellates when they sense a disturbance in the water in the lit up waters. Once there, we will be able to swim for approximately 20 to 30 minutes. The Bioluminescent Bay in La Parguera is among the most famous in the world

Day Five: Thursday, October 29 - Hiking - The Salt Flats - "Las Salinas" / Cabo Ro...
Hiking - The Salt Flats - "Las Salinas" / Cabo Rojo Lighthouse - "El Faro" / Return to San Juan

Note: The stop in Ponce on our return to San Juan will depend on weather and traffic conditions.

Breakfast: Continental Breakfast at the hotel including options such as eggs, sliced bacon or sausages, sliced bread or toast with jam/jelly/butter, pancakes or waffles with syrup, cornflakes or other cereal, coffee/tea, orange/grapefruit juice.

Morning: This morning we'll journey to El Faro in Cabo Rojo. On the road to the Lighthouse, we will stop in The Salt Flats, to take in the beautiful scenery as the sun sparkles and reflects off the dry salt and learn how the salt collects on the flats.

Los Morrillos Lighthouse was constructed in 1882 by the Spanish and is one of the most popular attractions in Cabo Rojo. The immense red stone cliffs are very impressive and a climb to the top of the hill affords breathtaking views of a beautiful crescent shape bay beach with calm, blue clear waters. This 2.5 mile up- and down- hill hike is over rubbly terrain and solid walking shoes/hiking boots with good ankle support are a must. The area is also a local birding spot allowing for the chance to see a variety of herons and egrets, sandpipers and plovers and some of the island's indigenous birds. (BIRDERS - please note that this is an active outdoor program with an emphasis on hiking.)

Lunch: At a local sandwish restaurant soft drinks included

Afternoon: As we make our way to the capital city, we will stop in Ponce depending on traffic and weather conditions for a brief field trip to get a flavor of the city. During our field trip, we will learn why beautiful city is called “the pearl of the south.”

Dinner: After checking back into the Hampton Inn, we'll venture out on a short walk to a local restaurant for a plated dinner including coffee and soft drinks.

Day Six: Friday, October 30 - Kayaking along the shore in Fajardo / Hiking in E...
Kayaking along the shore in Fajardo / Hiking in El Yunque Rain Forest / Free Late Afternoon

Breakfast: Continental Breakfast at the hotel including options such as eggs, sliced bacon or sausages, sliced bread or toast with jam/jelly/butter, pancakes or waffles with syrup, cornflakes or other cereal, coffee/tea, orange/grapefruit juice.

Morning: From the hotel, we will head to the eastern shore of Puerto Rico at Fajardo via Motor Coach. Here, we will kayak along the pristine coastline of “Las Cabezas de San Juan Nature Reserve” and enjoy the spectacular views of El Yunque Rainforest mountains and Fajardo's 130 year old Spanish lighthouse

Lunch: At local sandwich restaurant , soft drinks included.

Afternoon: Departure for El Yunque Rain Forest. On our way to our first stop at El Portal Visitors Center, we'll pick up our local naturalist and guide. At the Visitors Center, our guide will provide a brief orientation about the forest followed by a short video presentation.

After our orientation to the park, we'll set out on our hike. The total distance covered will be approximately 1.4 miles, over well-tended, shaded pathways.Hiking along the El Mina Falls and Big Tree Trails. These trails will take us past rushing streams and cascading waterfalls. Please note however that our hike will involve numerous changes in elevation and the weather in the park is always humid, which may make the hike seem much longer than 1.4 miles.

The hilly terrain requires good walking shoes/hiking boots with adequate ankle support. We ask those who have had recent knee/hip surgeries to please seriously consider their physical capabilities in undertaking this hike.

Dinner: Dinner will be on your own after our return to the hotel, for you to enjoy one of San Juan's many restaurants.

Day Seven: Saturday, October 31 - Guided tour of Old San Juan / Farewell Dinner
Breakfast: Continental Breakfast at the hotel including options such as eggs, sliced bacon or sausages, sliced bread or toast with jam/jelly/butter, pancakes or waffles with syrup, cornflakes or other cereal, coffee/tea, orange/grapefruit juice.

Morning: From the hotel to the Old San juan via motor coach. In the Old San Juan we will take a walking tour to explore the old city with a local expert and visit iconic sites such as the San Felipe de Morro Fort and La Muralla. Enjoy the rest of the time on your own to see and do what interests you most in Old San Juan. Walk the cobblestone streets rich in architectural delights and tree shaded squares more reminiscent of Europe than America. The city is built on a hill so comfortable walking shoes and a reasonable level of fitness are a must to ensure you enjoy all of the diverse experiences the "Vieja Ciudad" has to offer.

Lunch: Lunch on your own to enjoy one of Old San Juan's restaurants.

Afternoon: Continue your free time in Old San Juan before meeting your group leader at 3:00 PM at a designated location (TBA) to return to the hotel.

Dinner: This evening we'll venture to a local restaurant for our plated farewell dinner.

Evening: At leisure
