Day Two: Sunday, September 14 - Explore the historic Old Port district of Portlan...
Note: Walking and standing on a guided visit, beginning at the hotel, through the Old Port district, with listening devices, for 1.5 hours over a total of approximately 1.25 miles, with some cobblestone streets ending at a downtown restaurant for lunch. Walking over grass and packed dirt paths at the Portland Head Light.

Breakfast: At the hotel

Morning: Start your day with a lecture from a local historian. Explore the Arts District, Historic Waterfront--Old Port and the other distinctive neighborhoods of Portland on a guided walk. Learn what has made Portland’s Old Port one of the most successful revitalized warehouse districts in the country.

Lunch: Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and experience Portland's "Foodie Scene"

Afternoon: Continue on an afternoon of discovery aboard a classically styled trolley. On your two excursions around the city learn about Portland's diverse history and see its hidden gems. No visit to Portland would be complete without exploring Portland Head Light, Maine's oldest lighthouse located on Cape Elizabeth. Visit the Portland Head Light and enjoy the spectacular shores of Fort Williams Park while you learn the history of this famous light.

Dinner: Fresh Seafood, Farm to Table, Classic New England the options are plentiful in Portland to enjoy a delicious dinner on your own. If you need suggestions your group leader will be happy to assist

Day Three: Monday, September 15 - Maine Maritime Museum
Note: Walking and standing on unpaved terrain for 1.5 hours at the Maine Maritime Museum.

Breakfast: At the Hotel

Morning: Depart Portland and drive up Maine’s scenic coastline, to Bath, renowned for shipbuilding since 1743. More than 5,000 vessels have been launched in the area, which at one time had more than 200 shipbuilding firms. At the Maine Maritime Museum, learn how Bath became the nation's fifth largest seaport by the mid-19th century, producing clipper ships that sailed to ports around the world.

Lunch: Boxed Lunch at the Maine Maritime Museum

Afternoon: Continue north on your journey of coastal Maine. Arrive in the charming coastal community of Camden. This classic New England harborside town is perfect spot to spend an afternoon of free time. Marvel over the fleet of windjammer schooners docked in the Camden Harbor, explore the historic downtown streets passing buildings that began as boat houses, woolen mills and former ship captains homes or simply relax in the shady village green. Stroll to Harbor Park and its Amphitheatre, sit on the seawall to watch the harbor traffic and the Megunticook River waterfall.

Dinner: Dinner at a local restaurant

Day Four: Tuesday, September 16 - Farnsworth Museum / Olson House
Note: Walking and standing in Farnsworth museum for 1.5 hours. Olson House requires walking up small hill to access entrance. The house is not ADA accessible and may require walking on uneven surfaces such as dirt and grass. Option to explore exterior of home requires walking on uneven outdoor surfaces.

Breakfast: At the Inn

Morning: Visit the Farnsworth Museum including a visit to the Wyeth Center. A docent will lead the group throughout the museum with some additional time for self-exploration. The Wyeth Center at the Farnsworth Art Museum consists of several discrete components dedicated to collecting, research, exhibitions and interpretive programs related to three generations of Wyeths in Maine: N.C., Andrew, and James Wyeth

Lunch: Lunch in Rockland

Afternoon: Field Trip: Olson House Located in Cushing, Maine, is the subject of numerous works of art by Andrew Wyeth, including Christina’s World, 1948, now owned by the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Wyeth’s series of drawings, watercolors, and tempera paintings featuring Christina Olson, her brother Alvaro and the house itself, occupied Wyeth from 1939 to 1968.

Dinner: Dine together at a local eatery

Day Five: Wednesday, September 17 - Schooner Sailing on the Penobscot Bay
Note: Walk on pavement from motor coach to dock. Walk up a marine ramp with hand rails to wooden dock, walk up and down a few steps and over gap to board boat. There is a bathroom on board, but it is down a steep flight of wooden steps so use on land before the boat departs is highly recommended. Schooner has sails and wooden benches with cushions. Soft soled, non marking shoes recommended for Schooner

Breakfast: At the Inn

Morning: Welcome to the world of the Maine Windjammer! All aboard a family built, owned and operated schooner for a 2 1/2 hour sail out of the picturesque Rockport harbor. The captain regales you with stories, points out the varied wildlife, lobster pots and lighthouses and explains why the lobster fishing industry is so important to Maine's economy and "sense of place."

Lunch: Enjoy Lunch

Afternoon: Leaving Mid-Coast Maine head "Downeast" to Mt. Desert Island, home of Acadia National Park. Enroute visit a Coastal Maine hidden gem!

Dinner: Local restaurant for dinner

Lodging: Atlantic Oceanside Hotel

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day Six: Thursday, September 18 - Acadia National Park by Land and Sea
Note: Must be able to embark and disembark vessels using ramps and/or stairs. Afternoon on motor coach with frequent stops. Stops may have uneven terrain

Breakfast: Breakfast at the Inn

Morning: Start your exploration of Acadia National Park by Sea on an Acadia Nature Cruise. On the two hour fully narrated excursion of Frenchman Bay enjoy the breathtaking scenery of coastal Maine, Acadia National Park, the islands of Frenchman Bay and the shoreline of Bar Harbor. See parts of the island only visible by water including many of the timeless summer mansions, Egg Rock Lighthouse, and local wildlife

Lunch: Lunch on Mt. Desert Island

Afternoon: Now it is time to explore the park by land. A scenic drive up Cadillac Mountain will take you to the highest point on the eastern seaboard. When the serpentine summit road was built in the 1930s, it was considered the best-engineered mountain road in the world.

Dinner: Celebrate your journey with a farewell dinner, featuring Maine Lobster

Evening: Farewell wrap up of our program.

Day Seven: Friday, September 19 - Transfer back to Portland
Note: The transfer from Bar Harbor to Portland International Jetport is 170 miles, and takes approximately 4 hours

Breakfast: At the Inn

Morning: Depart to Portland International Jetport, arriving at approximately 12:30. Please do not schedule flights before 2:30 p.m. Following, the bus will have 2 more drop offs: the Portland Transportation Center (train station), and then the Holiday Inn by the Bay (first hotel). The fee for parking at the hotel for the duration of the program is a $50 flat rate.
