This family-run vintage resort brings to mind classic resorts of the 50s and 60s but with modern conveniences like wi-fi. Arrive To: Travel to Rowleys Bay on your own -- OR -- join the Covenant Harbor van shuttle departing from the Green Bay airport at 2:30 pm. Advance Reservations Required. Claim your luggage and meet in baggage claim at 2:15 pm. You will arrive in Rowleys Bay at 4:30 pm in time for check-in, dinner and orientation.

Afternoon: WELCOME TO DOOR COUNTY! Plan to arrive in Rowleys Bay in the afternoon. Check-in begins at 3:00 pm at the front desk at Rowleys Bay Resort. Pick up your program booklet and name tag from your Group Leader in the lobby. The booklet contains the final day-by-day itinerary and other program information that we will review during orientation. Please be aware that program activities and scheduled times could change due to local circumstances. In the event of changes, we will alert you as quickly as possible. Thank you for your understanding.

Dinner: Buffet at 5:00 pm in the resort restaurant. Most meals are buffet style with lots of choices.

Evening: Gather as a group in the meeting room for ORIENTATION at 7:00 pm. Your Group Leader will give an overview of the program, provide additional information about your accommodations and answer any questions. Then you'll have a chance to introduce yourself to the group and tell a little about your hometown and hobbies.

Day Two: Monday, June 09 - Door County Coffee and Tea / Lunch and Learn at D...
Door County Coffee and Tea / Lunch and Learn at Door County Bakery / Fish Boil / Evening Activity

Breakfast: Buffet at 7:30 am in the resort restaurant. The hotel owners are Swedish so you'll find Swedish pancakes almost every morning on the buffet.

Morning: FIELD TRIP: Board our bus for a 30-minute ride south to the community of Carlsville and DOOR COUNTY COFFEE AND TEA CO. Established in 1993, this small family-owned business still roasts coffee the old-fashioned way, in small batches to exacting specifications. They use the finest Specialty Class 1 Arabica coffee beans grown throughout the world, and roast in a fluidized-air bed roaster which they believe is the best in the industry. It produces a wonderfully even, perfect roast each and every time. See the roasting process, enjoy a cup of coffee or tea with a home-made bakery treat and receive a packet of coffee to take home.

Lunch: Plated lunch at 12:00 pm at Door County Bakery.

Afternoon: Join Guest Chef Terri Milligan for a LUNCH AND LEARN of the dishes you enjoyed at lunch. Learn how to re-create your Door County experience at home -- you'll receive all the recipes. If that wasn't enough you'll want to join the resident storyteller by the firepit at 4:30 pm to learn about the HISTORY OF THE DOOR COUNTY FISH BOIL. There are many versions of this story but Charlie's got one of the best and you can't beat the view! Bring your camera for the spectacular "boil over" at 5:00 pm. When the fish is done we eat.

Dinner: Buffet at 5:00 pm in the resort restaurant. Tonight the buffet features the traditional Door County Fish Boil with potatoes, onions, coleslaw, rye bread and cherry dessert. If you're not a fan of fish there will be lots of other delicious choices.

Evening: Gather in the meeting room at 7:00 pm for an evening session with local orchard owners Mark and Mary Pat Carlson who will share stories of CHERRY PICKERS, POW'S AND ORCHARD MEMORIES. Local Door County-made products like dried cherries, cherry juice and jams will be available for purchase.

Day Three: Tuesday, June 10 - Pottery Demo / Bakery Demo / Evening Activity
Breakfast: Buffet at 7:30 am in the resort restaurant. Be sure to try the half-pound caramel pecan rolls.

Morning: FIELD TRIP: Board the bus for a quick trip over to ELLISON BAY POTTERY. You meet John Dietrick and his wife Diane McNeil and learn more about the properties of clay and how fire can take clay and turn it into something magical. John will demonstrate making a goblet at the wheel.

Lunch: Select menu for lunch in the resort restaurant.

Afternoon: Join resort owner Jewel Peterson Ourdnik in the lobby for a brief history of the resort property and the vision of her father Leonard. Move over the bakery for a BEHIND THE SCENES AT THE BAKERY and discover how they make their famous half pound cinnamon and caramel pecan rolls. You might even get a sample of skorpa. Not sure what that is? You'll know before you leave.

Dinner: Buffet at 5:00 pm in the resort restaurant.

Day Four: Wednesday, June 11 - Hands-On Cooking at Savory Spoon Cooking School /...
Hands-On Cooking at Savory Spoon Cooking School / Free Afternoon / Free Evening

Breakfast: Buffet at 7:30 am in the resort restaurant.

Morning: FIELD TRIP: Board the bus for a quick ride over to Ellison Bay where you'll meet Chef Janice Thomas at the Savory Spoon Cooking School and Marketplace. Work as a team during a HANDS-ON COOKING EXPERIENCE to create a five-course lunch. The Savory Spoon occupies the former village school house, built in 1879. This historic building was carefully restored in 2005 reclaiming itself as a local landmark. The former two-room school is now equipped with state of the art cooking and refrigeration equipment, and the finest in culinary tools and small appliances. The Marketplace also has the addition of the Schoolhouse Artisan Cheese Shop, offering over 50 types of Wisconsin Artisan Cheeses.

Lunch: Plated lunch at 12:00 pm at the Savory Spoon Cooking School. Celebrate the seasonal sights and tastes of Door County. In the blink of an eye, the work space is transformed from kitchen to casual dining. Raise your glass to your fellow cooks and savor your delicious creations. You'll receive a packet of recipes to take home.

Afternoon: FREE AFTERNOON. There are lots of options in Door County. Stay at the resort and rent a kayak or join a Segway tour. Visit an artists' studio or gallery and look for original art. Buy a ticket for the ferry to Washington Island and explore the Stave Church and ostrich farm. Information on special events and options will be provided.

Dinner: On your own to discover one of the fantastic restaurants in Door County. Need a suggestion? We have lots. Of course the resort restaurant is always an option.

Evening: FREE EVENING. Perhaps you'd like to buy a ticket for a theater performance, attend a community music concert, or simply relax along the water's edge.

Day Five: Thursday, June 12 - Commercial Fishing / Orchard Visit and Pie Making...
Commercial Fishing / Orchard Visit and Pie Making / Evening Entertainment

Breakfast: Buffet at 7:30 am in the resort restaurant.

Morning: FIELD TRIP: Board the bus for a quick ride up to the DOOR COUNTY MARITIME MUSEUM at Gill's Rock. Learn more about the commercial fishing industry that is so important to the peninsula.

Lunch: Select menu for lunch in the resort restaurant.

Afternoon: FIELD TRIP: Board the bus for a quick ride over to SEAQUIST ORCHARDS AND FARM MARKET. This family-owned business is a landmark in Door County for more than 25 years. Take a drive through the experimental orchard and learn more about cherries and apples. You'll be amazed at the creative ways they try to keep birds and deer out of the orchard. Explore the process of shaking the trees to harvest the cherries. Then venture inside to the bakery for a pie making demonstration. Everyone goes home with a slice of pie.

Dinner: Buffet at 5:15 pm in the resort restaurant. Tonight the restaurant features prime rib.

Evening: Gather in the meeting room at 7:00 pm for a MUSICAL PERFORMANCE to close out our final evening together.

Day Six: Friday, June 13 - Departure
Depart From: For those returning to the Green Bay airport with the Covenant Harbor van shuttle, please be in the lobby with your luggage by 8:15 am. Edgewood Orchard GalleriesKnown since 1969 for exhibitions exploring ideas in a wide range of media, Edgewood Orchard Galleries has become one of the Midwest's most respected art galleries. Housed in a restored fruit barn built in 1918, the gallery presents monthly changing feature shows, along with general exhibits of work by over 150 artists. Paintings, sculpture, glass, clay, wood and jewelry are all represented. The serene setting features a bricked courtyard, arbor and glassed portico with bistro tables and chairs.
