Facility is at 2000 feet. Some hikes may go above 3000 feet.

Equipment Requirements
Hiking boots or sturdy walking shoes that provide ankle support and are well broken-in are REQUIRED. Hiking poles are highly recommended. you are hiking 3-6 miles each day and yoga. If participants have their own yoga equipment (mat and support equipment) please bring it. Otherwise, a mat will be provided.

Description: Located in the pristine forests at the base of Slide Mountain, Frost Valley YMCA features nearly 6000 acres of meadows, ponds, cascading waterfalls, and world-renowned trout streams, creating an idyllic background. The East Valley Ranch at Frost Valley is a lovely renovated home situated in a beautiful field just a few feet from the East Branch of the Neversink River. The East Valley Ranch deck, right off the dining room, looks directly over the Neversink River.

Facility amenities: The East Valley Ranch offers a warm country inn atmosphere in a peaceful and secluded valley. This renovated turn-of-the-century estate features small active programs, tastefully furnished, comfortable rooms with private baths, and outstanding wellness cuisine.

Day One: Sunday, April 27 - Check-in/Orientation
Afternoon: Check-in begins at 4:00 PM at East Valley Ranch in the dining room.

Dinner: Conclude the day's travel with a warm welcome to East Valley Ranch and a delicious selection of wholesome entrees. Dinners may include items such as pork loin, roasted chicken, salmon steaks or many other tasteful choices. And for the vegetarian, items such as vegetable curry, Asian style tofu and many other healthy options. Side dishes may consist of rice pilaf, quinoa, pasta, mashed potatoes or sauteed fresh vegetables. Along with a tossed salad and delicious homemade dessert.

Evening: Introductions and an orientation to East Valley Ranch and the week's Road Scholar program.

Day Two: Monday, April 28 - Hiking through Frost Valley property, and enjoyin...
Hiking through Frost Valley property, and enjoying a morning yoga session.

Breakfast: Before breakfast we will take part in an refreshing morning yoga session. Breakfast is served in the cozy East Valley Ranch dining room amid hardwood floors and a large stone fireplace. Along with a daily specials which may include fresh eggs, omelets, blueberry pancakes or waffles.A typical breakfast consist of fresh fruit, hot and cold cereals, toast or bagels.

Morning: After breakfast, we will drive over to main camp and hike to High Falls (3.5 miles, 200ft elevation gain) to see the beautiful waterfalls there.

Lunch: Guests will be provided with a diverse variety of food selections to assemble their own picnic lunch. Sandwich items may include deli meats, tuna, chicken salad and a choice of assorted cheeses. Fresh breads, fruits, granola and cookies are also provided. Enjoy your lunch al fresco, among newfound friends and the natural beauty of the Catskills.

Afternoon: This afternoon we will continue our hikes through Frost Valley property by hiking along the Biscuit Brook, stopping at the water run known as Brother's Hole. While there we will be taking part in gentle stretching. There will be the option of crossing the cable bridge that crosses the river, although this is not essential to the hike. We will return to the East Valley Ranch around 4pm to relax and unwind before our healthy and robust dinner.

Dinner: Conclude the day with a delicious selection of wholesome entrees. Dinners may include items such as pork loin, roasted chicken, salmon steaks or many other tasteful choices. And for the vegetarian, items such as vegetable curry, Asian style tofu and many other healthy options. Side dishes may consist of rice pilaf, quinoa, pasta, mashed potatoes or sauteed fresh vegetables. Along with a tossed salad and delicious homemade dessert.

Evening: On-site optional evening presentations in our cozy living room often include an array of topics ranging from local history, environmental education, and instructional videos. This evening will also be a time that we will work together to adjust the week's schedule as the group's needs dictate.

Day Three: Tuesday, April 29 - Enjoy a morning yoga sessions in addition to hiki...
Breakfast: Before breakfast we will take part in an refreshing morning yoga session. Breakfast is served in the cozy East Valley Ranch dining room amid hardwood floors and a large stone fireplace. Along with a daily specials which may include fresh eggs, omelets, blueberry pancakes or waffles.A typical breakfast consist of fresh fruit, hot and cold cereals, toast or bagels.

Morning: After breakfast, we will drive to the trail head for Hodge and Frick Ponds (5.2miles/790’ elev. gain). A mixture of old Jeep roads and hiking trails, the ponds are a great example of the Catskills' beauty.

Lunch: Guests will be provided with a diverse variety of food selections to assemble their own picnic lunch. Sandwich items may include deli meats, tuna, chicken salad and a choice of assorted cheeses. Fresh breads, fruits, granola and cookies are also provided. Lunch will be eaten on the banks of Hodge Pond, where we will be able to see active wildlife, and a great example of beaver dams and lodges.

Afternoon: After lunch, and some gentle stretching our day long scenic hike continues. As we approach Frick Pond there will be the option to add a mile to the hike and see the far side of the pond. We will return to East Valley Ranch around 4 PM to relax and unwind before dinner.

Dinner: Conclude the day with a delicious selection of wholesome entrees. Dinners may include items such as pork loin, roasted chicken, salmon steaks or many other tasteful choices. And for the vegetarian, items such as vegetable curry, Asian style tofu and many other healthy options. Side dishes may consist of rice pilaf, quinoa, pasta, mashed potatoes or sauteed fresh vegetables. Along with a tossed salad and delicious homemade dessert.

Day Four: Wednesday, April 30 - Hiking to a firetower that allows views of NY, NJ...
Hiking to a firetower that allows views of NY, NJ, and PA. In the evening we will present a history of the Catskills.

Note: Balsam Lake Mountain 6.1 miles/980’ elevation gain

Breakfast: Before breakfast we will take part in an refreshing morning yoga session. Breakfast is served in the cozy East Valley Ranch dining room amid hardwood floors and a large stone fireplace. Along with a daily specials which may include fresh eggs, omelets, blueberry pancakes or waffles.A typical breakfast consist of fresh fruit, hot and cold cereals, toast or bagels.

Morning: After breakfast, we will drive to the trail head for Balsam Lake Mountain (6.1 miles/980’ elevation gain) The hike goes through several different areas of vegetation, including a stand of Balsam Fir trees. The views from the Fire tower are magnificent.

Lunch: Guests will be provided with a diverse variety of food selections to assemble their own picnic lunch. Sandwich items may include deli meats, tuna, chicken salad and a choice of assorted cheeses. Fresh breads, fruits, granola and cookies are also provided. Enjoy your lunch al fresco, among newfound friends and the natural beauty of the Catskills.

Afternoon: After lunch we will continue our hiking by descending from the summit. We will return to East Valley Ranch around 4pm to relax and unwind before our healthy and robust dinner.

Dinner: Conclude the day with a delicious selection of wholesome entrees. Dinners may include items such as pork loin, roasted chicken, salmon steaks or many other tasteful choices. And for the vegetarian, items such as vegetable curry, Asian style tofu and many other healthy options. Day Five: Thursday, May 01 - Amazing views of the Ashokan Reservoir, Slide Mou...
Amazing views of the Ashokan Reservoir, Slide Mountain, the Hudson River Valley, and the Shawangunk Mountains. A slide show of the week's activities.

Note: Ashokan High Point 7.6 miles/2000’ elevation gain

Breakfast: Before breakfast we will take part in an refreshing morning yoga session. Breakfast is served in the cozy East Valley Ranch dining room amid hardwood floors and a large stone fireplace. Along with a daily specials which may include fresh eggs, omelets, blueberry pancakes or waffles.A typical breakfast consist of fresh fruit, hot and cold cereals, toast or bagels.

Morning: After breakfast we will drive to the trail head for Ashokan High Point (9.1 miles, 1,960 ft. elevation gain). The fire tower at the top of the mountain affords beautiful views of the surrounding areas.

Lunch: Guests will be provided with a diverse variety of food selections to assemble their own picnic lunch. Sandwich items may include deli meats, tuna, chicken salad and a choice of assorted cheeses. Fresh breads, fruits, granola and cookies are also provided. Enjoy your lunch al fresco, among newfound friends and the natural beauty of the Catskills.

Afternoon: Our day long scenic hike continues as we descend from the peak. We will be making periodic stops en route to practice basic yoga postures and stretches. We will return to the East Valley Ranch around 4pm to relax and unwind before our healthy and robust dinner.

Dinner: Conclude the day with a delicious selection of wholesome entrees. Dinners may include items such as pork loin, roasted chicken, salmon steaks or many other tasteful choices. And for the vegetarian, items such as vegetable curry, Asian style tofu and many other healthy options. Side dishes may consist of rice pilaf, quinoa, pasta, mashed potatoes or sauteed fresh vegetables. Along with a tossed salad and delicious homemade dessert.

Evening: Tonight there will be a slide show of photos taken of views and participants during the week's activities.

Day Six: Friday, May 02 - Hiking to Red Hill Fire Tower.
Note: Red Hill Fire Tower Hike 2.5 miles / 890’ elevation gain

Breakfast: Before breakfast we will take part in an refreshing morning yoga session. Breakfast is served in the cozy East Valley Ranch dining room amid hardwood floors and a large stone fireplace. Along with a daily specials which may include fresh eggs, omelets, blueberry pancakes or waffles.A typical breakfast consist of fresh fruit, hot and cold cereals, toast or bagels.

Morning: After breakfast, we will set off on a morning hike to enjoy the spectacular views and intriguing history of a nearby restored Fire Tower (2.8 miles, 890 ft. elevation gain).

Lunch: A bagged lunch is provided to give guests complete flexibility when making their travel arrangements for the return home. Lunch will be followed by "goodbyes" and check-out for departure by 1PM.
