Day One: Sunday, May 18 - Arrival/Dinner in the Tick Tock Diner
Afternoon: 5:00pm: We begin our orientation to the program and introduce staff and members of the group. We’ll review the schedule and any updates and answer any questions you may have.

Dinner: 6:15pm: Enjoy your first meal at the colorful Tick Tock Diner, located just off the hotel lobby. This 24-hour diner features classic American cooking. White and black checkered floors and shiny chrome columns enhance the all-American ambience. Dinner in The diner is available and included even if you arrive late.

Evening: Following dinner we will visit the Empire State Building.

Day Two: Monday, May 19 - Eldridge Street Synagogue/Lower East Side Tenemen...
Breakfast: 8am stop by the meeting room to meet with the MTA and obtain our Senior Citizen MetroCards for all that qualify. Before or after, breakfast in the Tick Tock Diner, but you MUST register with the MTA if you are 65 or older AT 8am sharp, in the meeting room.

Morning: 9:15 we will take our first ride on the subway to The Lower East Side and visit Eldridge Street Synagogue, recently opened after a 20 year restoration. You will be guided through the magnificently Moorish-revival style structure and learn one community's story of establishing themselves in a new and unfamiliar country.

Lunch: Lunch on your own to explore any of the many immigrant flavors or split a pastrami sandwich at Katz' Deli

Afternoon: Be guided through the Lower East Side Tenement Museum; a completely restored tenement building. But not in the way you might think. In this museum, you'll be guided through the homes and lives of the actual tenants of these rooms that have been made to look just as they did when they were inhabited. You will discover the conditions in which millions of immigrants lived when they first arrived to New York City and America. Discover the dreams they arrived with and the struggles they met to make those dreams come true.

Dinner: Dinner in a neighborhood restaurant

Evening: Take a closer look at Hell's Kitchen and the Garment Center neighborhoods near our hotel.

Day Three: Tuesday, May 20 - Merchant's House/Greenwich Village
Breakfast: American Breakfast in the Hotel Diner

Morning: Travel by subway down to Greenwich Village and visit The Merchant's House to see how the other half lived.

Lunch: Enjoy a picnic lunch in Washington Square Park

Afternoon: Continue to explore the wandering streets of the Village with our expert guide.

Dinner: Dinner in a neighborhood restaurant

Evening: Stroll the High Line and see the neighborhood of Chelsea

Day Four: Wednesday, May 21 - Brunch/Central Park
Depart From: Travel by subway to Brunch

Morning: Start your morning with a Brunch in a French Bistro on the Upper East Side and then take a guided stroll through some of the lesser traveled paths of Central Park.

Afternoon: FREE AFTERNOON and evening to Explore New York on your own, take in a museum or show. Matinee day!!

Dinner: Free evening to attend a Broadway show, music venues, more neighborhood highlights on your own. Many fine choices to dine in this fine city.

Day Five: Thursday, May 22 - Harlem/Morris-Jumel Mansion
Breakfast: American breakfast in the Tick Tock Diner

Morning: Take the A train to the Hamilton Heights section of Harlem to see the area that was once Alexander Hamilton's estate. The same neighborhood was made famous by Count Basie and Billy Strayhorn.

Lunch: Soul food lunch! Enjoy the Harlem tradition of Chicken and Waffles at Miss Maude's Spoonbread Restaurant. Chicken and Waffles was the go to menu for all those jazz musicians eating too late for dinner and too early for breakfast.

Afternoon: After lunch we travel further north to visit the Morris-Jumel Mansion, once George Washington's headquarters.

Dinner: Dinner in a neighborhood restaurant

Evening: An optional ride on the Staten Island Ferry will be offered this evening. Enjoy the evening downtown skyline on this free ride courtesy of New York City's Transit Authority.

Day Six: Friday, May 23 - Wrap up your week with a lively discussion.
