Arrive To: Check into your hotel room before 4pm. Between 4-5pm, find the Mardi Gras Tower/Convention Center elevators (next to Mings Table Restaurant). Take the elevator to the 2nd floor, and a representative of UNLV will be at the Check-In table by the elevators to meet you and direct you to the Orientation room. *Be mindful when looking for the Mardi Gras Tower Elevator, as there are escalators and elevators that that go to the wrong areas. Be sure to take the Mardi Gras Tower/Convention Center Elevators. Do not go to the Carnival tower, the Promenade, or the escalator labeled Monorail, Toby Keith Restaurant, parking garage, or showrooms.

Afternoon: Examine "Sin City's" rich history with a fascinating and devoted Nevada historian.

Morning: Field Trip - Red Rock Canyon State Park features scenic desert cliffs, buttes and spectacular rock formations. The Red Rock Canyon is located just a few miles west of Las Vegas and encompasses 195,819 acres within the Mojave Desert. Red Rock is an area of world wide geologic interest and beauty with its dramatic shapes and vivid colors.

Morning: What's in "The Black Book" - A Nevada Gaming Control Board Investigator will present information on gaming regulations designed to prevent crimes of cheating and fraud. The board's agents make as many as 500 arrests annually for cheating or embezzling from casinos.

Afternoon: Behind the Scenes Property Tour - Follow the Director of Security and Surveillance on a guided behind the scenes tour of the new Downtown Grand. Compare the experience of the "Strip" to this industrial chic, high-energy and intimate environment. Day Five: Thursday, February 27 - Neon Boneyard Museum / Fremont Street Experience ...
Note: Expect to be on your feet for the majority of the day. Neon Boneyard is an outdoor area with little to no shade available, no seating is available.

Breakfast: Breakfast buffet at Harrah's.

Morning: Guided tour through the Neon Boneyard - Home to over 150 donated and rescued signs dating from the 1930’s to present day and located within a two-acre outdoor museum space, the unrestored collection includes signs from businesses, motels and celebrated casino resorts originally located throughout the Las Vegas valley.

Lunch: Have lunch on the street where it all began and experience vintage Las Vegas at the famous Freemont Street Experience. Buffet lunch at the Golden Nugget.

Afternoon: Spend the afternoon exploring the new Mob Museum located in the heart of Downtown Las Vegas, inside the historic former federal building. The Mob Museum showcases both sides of the notorious battle between organized crime and law enforcement through theater presentations, iconic one-of-a-kind artifacts, and interactive exhibits.

Fall of Atlantis Fountain ShowThe Fall of Atlantis fountain show will captivate you with its stunning special effects. Located inside Caesars Palace in the Forum Shops, next to The Cheesecake Factory, the free fountain show uses lifelike animatronic figures to recount the myth of Atlantis. Fremont Street ExperienceThe Fremont Street area of Las Vegas is located Downtown, just north of the famed Vegas Strip. Fremont Street dates back to 1905, when Las Vegas itself was founded. Fremont Street was closed to vehicle traffic in September, 1994 to begin construction on the Fremont Street Experience. The massive entertainment venue is home to Viva Vision, a spectacular light and music show with a 550,000 watt sound system and over 12.5 million lights projecting onto a 500-yard-long canopy 90 feet above the ground. Viva Vision truly makes Fremont Street a prime attraction for tourists and locals alike. Nightly shows run every hour on the hour beginning at 8:00pm - midnight and last for approximately seven minutes. Sirens of Treasure IslandThe sexy outdoor sirens pirate show is a must see spectacle of renegade pirates who are lured inside Siren's Cove by the siren songs. Volcano at the MirageIn front of the Mirage Hotel & Casino you will find a peaceful dormant-looking volcano. But beginning at 6pm each evening, this volcano blows its top in a show-stopping eruption reaching over 54 feet tall. The lava flows freely down the sides of the volcano into pools of water and fire, surrounded by gorgeous waterfalls and tropical floral life and continues to erupt every 15 minutes until midnight.
