Day Two: Sunday, June 29 - Arrival in Paris
Arrive To: Arrivals at Charles de Gaulle airport and transfers to the Paris hotel.

Afternoon: Check-in at your hotel and take time to settle in. We will gather in our private meeting room in the early evening where the Group Leader will greet you with a warm welcome and introduce everyone. We will review the up-to-date daily schedule and any changes, discuss responsibilities, safety guidelines, emergency procedures, and answer any questions you may have. Please be aware that program activities and scheduled times could change due to local circumstances. In the event of changes, we will alert you as quickly as possible. Thank you for your understanding.

Day Three: Monday, June 30 - Introduction to the French Language / Montmartre
Breakfast: At the hotel.

Morning: Enjoy a course to learn the basics of the French language and to practice pronunciation. This is your chance to master the essential phrases you will need to use during your week long Parisian adventure!

Lunch: You will receive money for lunch and a list of restaurant choices in Montmartre. Your challenge is to read the menu and order in French. Try not to use your dictionary or guidebook unless absolutely necessary.

Afternoon: After lunch, continue to use your French skills and bargaining skills while you try to find an artist to paint or draw your portrait in the Place du Tertre. Once you have mastered the French language, (or at least learned how to order pommes frites!) you will then embark on an in-depth discovery of Montmartre. The area is famous for its many artists as well as for the white-domed Basilique du Sacré-Coeur that rests at the summit of the city's highest hill. We will then return to the hotel via metro.

Dinner: At a Moroccan restaurant where you will learn about immigration and diversity in France.

Morning: Learn about the rich art history in France. Next, enjoy a scavenger hunt at the Louvre, one of the most important collections of art in the world. You will divide into teams and be given a list of masterpieces to find.

Lunch: At a local restaurant.

Afternoon: We will depart by coach to visit the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte.

Dinner: Take delight in a BBQ dinner with a French family.

Day Five: Wednesday, July 02 - French History and L'île de la Cité
Breakfast: At the hotel.

Morning: Learn about French history during an on-site lecture and field trip to the very island where Paris was founded, L'île de la Cité. You will discover the world's most famous cathedral, Notre Dame, as well.

Lunch: At a local restaurant.

Afternoon: Enjoy a unique view of Paris from the water, as you cruise along the river and admire the beautiful and historic sites. Later, enjoy some free time to explore Paris at your own pace.

Dinner: At a local restaurant.

Evening: Enjoy a performance of the French classic La Belle et la Bête.

Day Six: Thursday, July 03 - Impressionism: Monet's Gardens and the Musée d'Or...
Breakfast: At the hotel.

Morning: We will depart by coach to Giverny, where Claude Monet created and painted his incredible gardens. You will feel as if you have stepped right into one of his famous water lily paintings.

Lunch: At a local restaurant.

Afternoon: Take some time to explore Paris at your own pace. We will then take the metro to the Musée d'Orsay to discover some of the masterpieces you learned about this morning, which were considered daring and avant-garde in the 19th century. There will be an on-site lecture discussing Impressionism.

Dinner: At the Musée d'Orsay restaurant.

Morning: Enjoy a behind the scenes tour of the iconic Notre Dame cathedral, including one of the bell towers.

Lunch: At the Eiffel Tower, at a nearby café of your choice, or picnic on the Champs des Mars.

Afternoon: Take the opportunity to see how real French bread is made and practice your baking skills as you create your own mouth-watering brioche. Take notes on making this delicious bread so that you can amaze your family and friends back home!

Dinner: On your own.

Evening: Enjoy the view of Paris from the Eiffel Tower.

Day Eight: Saturday, July 05 - Market Visit and Farewell to Paris
Breakfast: At the hotel.

Morning: Visit one of the city's many open-air markets where you can browse the stalls and mingle with Parisians doing their morning shopping. Experience the sights, smells and delicious treats of the marché! No visit to Paris is complete without a stop at the Père-Lachaise cemetery. Don't be fooled by the ghoulish sound of this outing! This is a unique chance to experience history as you walk along the stone markers bering the names of Jean Moulin, Jim Morrison, Honoré Daumier, Oscar Wilde, and many other famous artists, musicians, statesmen, and heroes.

Lunch: On your own.

Afternoon: Take time to explore Paris at your own pace.

Dinner: Farewell dinner.

Evening: Tonight you bid farewell to Paris from atop of the Arc de Triomphe. Take this opportunity to consider all that you have experienced and learned this week as you view the city from high above.

Day Nine: Sunday, July 06 - Departures from Paris
