Morning: Field trip to Robert Adam's masterpiece Culzean Castle, a 600 acre estate in South Aryshire, where Dwight D Eisenhower was given the use of a flat in recognition of his connection to this grateful nation. The Kennedy family is one of Scotland’s oldest families and trace ancestry to Robert the Bruce. Culzean Castle was their principal seat from 1759, the castle and its landscape reflecting their status and aspirations. Over the centuries, the Kennedys transformed a medieval tower house, built to protect its inhabitants during dangerous times, into one of the grandest country houses in Ayrshire. In the 1770s, the 10th Earl commissioned the famous architect, Robert Adam, to create a house worthy of his political status. The entrance doors are on the site of Adam's front door. Above the doorway you can see Adam’s original graceful fanlight.

Afternoon: The field trip continues to Burns Cottage in Alloway -the birthplace of Scotland's national poet Robert Burns. At the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum, trace his footsteps from birth to national and international icon. Robert Burns Birthplace Museum offers a truly unique encounter with Scotland’s favourite son. Set among 10 acres of the poet’s cherished Alloway countryside, the museum comprises the famous Burns Cottage where the poet was born, the historic landmarks where he set his greatest work, the elegant monument and gardens created in his honour and a modern museum housing the world’s most important collection of his life and works.

Mackintosh's Hill House, Loch Lomond, Cruachan Power Station and Loch Awe.

Morning: Transfer by coach to Oban via Helensburgh where we will see the home created for one of Scotland's best known publishers by Glasgow's world famous Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Dating back to 1902, the interiors and decorative scheme were created by Mackintosh and his wife. Continue on with a drive along the shores of Loch Lomond into the Highlands.

Lunch: Your choice to explore Inverary.

Afternoon: The field trip continues to "the Hollow Hill" Cruachan Power Station, one of the country's most amazing engineering achievements. Hidden deep within the mountain of Ben Cruachan on the shores of Loch Awe is Cruachan Power Station. A short distance from Oban, you can discover one of the hidden wonders of the Highlands. A power station buried one kilometre below the ground. At its centre lies a massive cavern, high enough to house the Tower of London!

Morning: Today we take a full day field trip by ferry to the Isle of Mull and then on to the Isle of Iona. Mull is the second largest of the islands of the Inner Hebrides.

Afternoon: From Mull cross to the "Cradle of Christianity" Iona-a place where they say "the Veil is thin". Iona was a centre of Irish monasticism for four centuries and is today renowned for its tranquility and natural beauty. Return by ferry from Craignure to Oban.

Morning: Transfer to Fort William today. Take the steam train ride from Fort William to Mallaig and on the way you'll see tiny villages, vast moors, towering mountains and historic glens. Drive by Stalker Castle and through"Kidnapped" country.

Afternoon: Return to Fort William for 3:30pm. Free afternoon.

Morning: This morning take a gondoal ride on Ben Nevis and ride the West Highland line from Fort William to Tyndrum via Rannoch Moor. The misty Isle of Skye, Armadale and Clan MacDonald Centre, Dunvegan Castle.

Morning: Spend a full day on the Isle of Skye-the misty isle. Begin by taking the 30 minute ferry ride from Mallaig to Armadale where the MacDonalds have their clan centre. Explore Armadale Castle Gardens. The Armadale estate covers 20,000 acres (8,000 hectares). It is traditionally owned by the clan Macdonald or Donald, also referred to as the Lords of Isles and now run by a Trust. Visit the Museum with its unique display of MacDonald and Skye artifacts and walk through the serene gardens with plants and trees warmed by the Gulf Stream.

Lunch: In Dunvegan.

Afternoon: The field trip continues to Dunvegan Castle and Garden and take some time to seal spot! Return via Skye Bridge. Continue on to Dingwall.

Morning: Driving by Culloden Battlefield, we journey to fairy tale, Cawdor Castle, 14th century home to the Thanes of Cawdor. Linked with Shakespeare's Macbeth, the castle remains home to the Cawdor family today. Although the House has evolved over 600 years, later additions mainly of the 17th century were all built in the Scottish vernacular style with slated roofs over walls and gables of mellow local stone. This style gives Cawdor a strong sense of unity, and the massive, severe exterior belies an intimate interior that gives the place a surprisingly personal, friendly atmosphere. Drive by Culloden.

Afternoon: The field trip continues to the Black Isle and Cromarty and a special private talk by a custodian at Groam House Museum.

Morning: Transfer to Pitlochry via Elgin Cathedral-burned by the Wolf of Badenoch in the 14th century and continue on to Strathspey, known for its plentiful whisky distilleries. Visit Glenlivet Distillery set in the foothills of the Cairngorm Mountains in one of the most romantic and scenic glens in the Highlands. See inside the vast bonded warehouse, learn how whisky is made and sample a "wee dram".

Afternoon: Continue on to the 17th century delightful small town of Culross with its Merchants' Palace and Bishops' Study. Enjoy the storied narrow streets and views across the Firth of Forth. Return to Edinburgh via Dunfirmline, birthplace of Andrew Carnegie and burial place of Robert the Bruce's body (minus heart and entrails!)
